Charles Elmer Elliston, Jr. was born on November 6, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Charles E. Elliston, Sr. and Leah Jean Moore Elliston. He was the first born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Neal , Frank and his sisters, LeahJeanne, Elizabeth and Carol. As a child, he was independent and did things his way. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a very early age and was baptized a Catholic. He served as an Altar Boy and felt the calling to become a Priest. Charles "Chuck" as he was affectionately called by family and friends received his early education by attending Cathedral Catholic School and later Manual High School, where he graduated. Shortly after graduation, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving his country, he attended the Universidad De San Juan in Puerto Rico, during his three year tour of duty. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. Charles united in holy matrimony to Rose Kepner and to this union a son, Roderick was born. He later wed, Carol Jones and to this union, a daughter, Michelle was born. In 1982, he married the former Georgia N. Womack. They exchanged vows in Las Vegas. The couple traveled extensively to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and numerous other cities in the United States. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Charles was employed by the highway department during the 1960's; he worked as a Mail Clerk, a Case Worker for the Department of Social Services, a Finance Manager for the Johnny Haas Ford/Lincoln-Mercury Dealership, where he retired in 1984, after working for the company for 21 years. He worked for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, whose office operated out of Kansas City, Missouri and he served as Manager at the Denver International Airport for the same company. Wherever employed, Charles was a person who didn't just meet the company standards but exceeded all expectations. He was dependable, hard -working, worked well his employees and members of the management team. He performed all his duties with precision and excellence. Charles was very active in many civic and social activities in the area. He was affiliated with the International Association of the Lions, where he moved through many of the ranks. He was District Governor's from 1990-1991. He was a chartered member of the Innumerable Lions Club. Chucks years of service were distinguished by his integrity and devotion to duty. Charles was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. His colleagues will miss his rare charm and personality. He was humorous, happy and strait forward. We pause to pay tribute to a "Man Who Made a Difference." Many lives have been better because their path crossed Chuck Elliston. Well done; Take your Rest; we all loved you but God loved you best. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Leah Elliston; a brother, Frank Elliston; a niece, Yvette Elliston-Mack and a nephew, Ivory E. Bryant. Reverend Charles Elmer Elliston, Jr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on June 9, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Georgia N. Elliston of Denver; a son, Roderick Charles (Janet) Kepner of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Michelle R. (Gaudie) Sudduth of Aurora; a brother, Neal M. (Ida) Elliston of Muskogee, Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Leah Jean (Ernest) Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth L. (Ivory) Bryant of Denver and Carol M. (David) Smith of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Ayanna M. Sudduth of Aurora, Kimberley "Kim" Green and Roderick C. (Elin) Kepner, II all of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many, many friends.
