Raven Williams

August 14, 1978 — September 27, 2018

Raven Yvonne Williams was born August 14, 1978, in Denver Colorado to Dara Elise Williams and Stephen Eric Hudgins. She is the youngest sibling of Summer Harris Craft with whom she shares a mother and Stephanie Hudgins with whom she shares a father. Raven was adoringly raised by her mother Dara, step-father Raymond Burgin, and maternal grandmother Audrey Harris. Although she was not in his household, Raven also had a solid relationship with her father Stephen. As a young child Raven resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her mother Dara and sister Summer. The trio moved back to Denver during Raven’s elementary years, and she went on to attend Teller Elementary and Gove Middle Schools. During her time at these schools, Raven made many life-long friends whom she affectionately considered family. Throughout her early years, Raven lived between Milwaukee and Denver for periods of time but eventually settled permanently in Denver where she attended East High School. Raven enjoyed school. She excelled in the classroom and participated in several school activities including cheerleading. She had a passion for writing and made friends easily. She took advantage of opportunities to go camping, learn sign language, and volunteering in the community. She was a member of a dance group, enjoyed writing poems and on occasion would bust a rhyme! Raven was not afraid to roll up her sleeves and work! She began working at an early age, working primarily in retail and customer service. Due to complications from a car accident, she was unable to continue working consistently; but thanks to her entrepreneurial mindset, she continued to work as a primary caregiver. Raven was also a self-proclaimed chef and was working on writing a cookbook, which she planned to publish one day. Raven loved the Lord and began her relationship with God at an early age. She prayed daily and studied the bible often. She attended various churches in Colorado, and during a short stint in Jacksonville, Florida she joined Cross Road Church where she taught Sunday school to children, prepared meals for the church, and was able to witness her youngest niece’s baptism. Raven was feisty! She had a heart larger than life, a soul that was kind, and a smile that lit up the room. She was petite in stature, and large in personality; full of love and unforgettably giving. She loved people and loved helping others. She could not walk by a baby without speaking and would sacrifice her last for a stranger. She was popular amongst friends, and always an unwavering support when needed. She loved to cook, write, dance, listen to music, hang with friends and family, and she definitely loved shopping - whether for clothes or groceries. If you were her friend, you felt like her best friend. If you were her best friend, you felt like family. If you were her family, you felt like you were her everything. Raven was complex yet easy going, straightforward yet soft, vulnerable yet courageous. But mostlyâ₦ she was just LOVE. Raven was called home, where she is safe in the arms of the Lord on September 27, 2018. Raven was preceded in death by her mother, Dara Elise Williams; Father, Stephen Eric Hudgins; Grandmothers, Audrey E. Harris, and Betty R.
