Ramona Denise Gavin was born on May 29, 1959, in Laurel, Mississippi to her parents, Charles E. Gavin and Earnestine Garner Gavin. She was the second child born to this union. She was raised surrounded by her sister, Charlotte. As a child, Ramona would often play with her imaginary friend while her sister was in school. She was fond of her stuffed teddy bear and most often blamed the teddy bear for everything. Ramona started early combing and cutting her dolls hair, so much so, until the hair was all gone. Her family could see that she was destined to be a Beautician. When Ramona was three years old, the family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where her father, Charles Gavin had signed to play professional football with the Denver Broncos. She was excited and happy about the move and didn't mind telling her friends, "she moving to Colorado Denver. "She received her formal education by attending Hallett Elementary School, Smiley Middle School, George Washington High School and Manual High School. She furthered her education by completing courses to become a licensed Cosmetologist from the Manual Beauty School. Ramona was the proud mother of three beautiful children: a son, Charles, whom she named after her father and two daughters, Lakia and Shealean. She was a loving and devoted mother, whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. She was later blessed with three grandchildren, Gia, Ty'Ron and Myka, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. She always made it a point to take them to places full of fun on their Sunday outings. They all shared many happy and memorable moments together. By profession, Ramona was a licensed Cosmetologist. Once completing beauty school, she worked for the Denver Public Schools and she worked part-time as a Beautician. She did so, while planning to open her own salon. She eventually became owner and operator of "Extreme Hair Design." She was extremely happy and proud of her accomplishment. Her salon was known as the "hottest place in town on Friday nights." She continued to operate the business until the economy began to change. Not willing to stop her pursuits, Ramona, became a Day-care Provider. She was respected by her co-workers, parents, and loved by the children placed in her care. She returned to the Denver Public Schools and began working at the Kalidiscope Korner, where she remained until her health challenges disallowed her to do so. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Ramona accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She joined King Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend T.E. Hendricks. She served her church and the Lord as a member of the Dance Ministry. She truly enjoyed the fellowship with her church family and the wisdom and knowledge she gained as she studied the Bible in spirit and in truth. Ramona was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she continued to be a stylist; she loved cooking, attending social events in the community, and doing arts and crafts. She was a friend to many and a stranger to none. She will be remembered for her willingness to help others and her warm and welcoming smile. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this Phenomenal Woman. To know Ramona was to love her. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Gavin. Ramona Denise Gavin departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on February 15, 2016, in Denver, Colorado.
