Ralph Kenneth Jones was born on March 24, 1935, in Merced, California to his parents, James Jones and Cora DeGraffenreid Jones. He was the fifth of ten children born in the family. As a child, he was quiet, well liked, and easy to get along with others.
Ralph received his early education by graduating from Merced High School. While in school, he ran track and won several awards. In 1955, Ralph enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving his country, he was stationed at several bases both stateside and overseas. He earned several awards and citations for meritorious service. He served with honor and distinction and honorably discharged at the rank of a TSgt. retiring after over twenty-three years of faithful and dedicated service.
Ralph married Barbara Jones and to this union, two children, David and Ryan were born. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed the special vacations spent with the family in Alaska, California, and Florida. He was a father who was supportive of his children in all their efforts. He was later blessed with two grandchildren, Barbara and Elizabeth who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They shared many happy and precious moments together. Barbara preceded him in death.
After his military discharge, Ralph worked for Continental Airlines in their parts and storage division. He was hardworking, dedicated, and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence.
Ralph was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed spending quality time with his friends at The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), watching Bill Maher, Traveling, and studying Geography. He continued to be quiet in his demeanor but didn't mind lending a helping hand to family and friends. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Ralph was to love him.
Ralph Kenneth Jones departed this life on June 23, 2019, in San Diego, California. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Ryan Tenita Jones of San Diego, California; his son, David Marlin of Denver, Colorado; 1 brother, Larry Jones of Yucca Valley, California; 1 sister, Robbie Monk of Los Angeles, California; 2 grandchildren, Barbara Smith and Elizabeth Smith both of Denver, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
