Quinasia Shanae Russell, affectionately called "Nay Nay" by everyone she loved, was born in Denver, Colorado on August 1, 1993, to Tasha Renee Chatman and Leonard Duane Russell. She was the only child from this union. Quinasia, had two brothers, Rashaud D. Russell and Trevious M. Moore; two sisters, Shawnice R. Russell and Tra'Nyah EL. Moore. As a child, Quinasia enjoyed playing basketball, writing poetry, listening to music, clowning around. She loved being around her family, in which she was always the center of attention. She humorously called everybody "Son". She made it very hard for anyone to stay mad at her. She was a straight forward young lady. As a matter of fact, when she found out she was going to be a big sister, she was extremely excited and expressed it by saying, "Mom, since we got what we wanted, can you tell your baby daddy to get out?!" Quinasia was full of love, but there was never a question if she didn't like you. She was also very protective of her family. Quinasia attended East High School, and the Community College of Denver in Denver, Colorado. She was an active member of Denver Kids for many years. Nay Nay received numerous awards for her academics, as well as awards for her achievements in basketball. Quinasia had many nicknames "Little Monkey", and her Uncle Paul teased her by calling her little Aflac. Trevious and Tra'Nyah loved to play fight with Nay Nay, she would tell them, "I don't want you to be scared, I want you to be ready." They both recall when she watched them, they put flour everywhere, and she got so mad at them, she threatened to call their mom because they needed to be whooped. Shawnice and Rashaud remember their trip to Texas to visit their grandmother, and how much fun they had with her, and how cool she was. She played slap jack with them and assured them that she would always be there with them. Her Aunt Toya said Nay Nay had no filter, and she remembers a conversation where Nay Nay told her to practice what she preached; they laughed about it, Toya told her she was crazy and Nay Nay told her, "no, I'm just ill." Her Aunt Tara loved when Nay Nay would be kissing on her, and she would tell her to go away, but Nay Nay always told her no, with her mean self. Her Aunt Nisha remembers when her and Nay Nay snuck out to go to a party, and left Mannie behind; Mannie was mad and told on them; Nisha and Nay Nay lied and said they were in the house all along they laughed at him because he got in trouble. Her grandmother, Doretha, recalls how Nay Nay would always call to check on her, and ask if she cooked. Nay Nay loved to eat. Her grandfather, Raymond, recalls seeing her when she was eighteen, and how she loved on him; he gave her his pinky ring, and she said she would never take it off. Her grandmother, Shirley, remembers her when she came to visit in Houston, and how full of life she was and their talk about Quinasia becoming a Veterinarian. Her grandfather, Allen, remembers how beautiful her smile was, and how she always hugged him. Quinasia enjoyed being a customer service representative, she worked at Alamo National, Manheim, and the Lodge Casino. Nay Nay was an entrepreneur, working on an empire for her family. Quinasia was not a member of a church, but she knew and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She attended church with family and friends. One of her last Facebook post was her urging her loved ones to get right with God. In Nay Nay's free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, taking pictures, listening to music, talking stuff, going out to eat, and keeping everybody laughing with her hilarious laugh. Nay Nay had many friends consisting of her aunts, uncles, and cousins; her best friends were Nikita Flowers, Hazel, Jalynn, Kellie, Deandre Mayfield, Chris Thatch, Sr. and Jamilla. To know Quinasia, was to love her. Quinasia was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Russell; her uncle, Paul Chatman; and her great grandmother, Lottie Mae Steele. Quinasia Shanae Russell departed this life on October 15, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss, include her mother, Tasha Chatman; her siblings, Trevious Moore, Tra'Nyah Moore, Rashaud Russell, and Shawnice Russell; her grandmothers, Doretha Chatman and Shirley Nelson; her grandfathers, Raymond Chatman, Sr. and Allen Russell; her godparents, Lea Johnson and Akida Mickens' Bey; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
