Queen Hayes Ramos, was born on March 19, 1951 in Quitman, Louisiana; in Jackson Parrish to Mack Hayes and Queen Osborne. She was the youngest of 10 children born in the family. She claimed Christ as her Lord and Savior and at an early age at St. Rest Baptist Church in Louisiana. Queen grew up in the St. Rest Community where she received the nickname “Sister Girl” that followed her through adulthood. Queen graduated from Jackson High School (predominately African American) in 1969.
Queen later moved to Denver, Colorado where she married Joe West, to this marriage Tyrone West was born. She later married Michael Ramos and to this union Damon Ramos was born.
In Denver, Queen was employed by Frito Lay where she retired after 30 plus years of dedicated service as a forklift driver. Queen was known for her fun, loving and witty ways. She loved to dance and to spend time with family and friends. Queen and her special friend Carlos Parham shared many joyful years together traveling and enjoying life. They also enjoyed spending countless time with Maleiah Ramos.
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, in her 73rd season of life, Queen began her eternal celebration in a land that shall never grow old.
She is Preceded in death by her parents; Mack Hayes and Queen Osborne Hayes; two brothers, Willie Lee Hayes and Mack Hayes Jr.; four sisters, Gracie Hamlin, Gloria Bucking, Pearl Frazier and Nancy Richard.
Those left to cherish her memories include her two sons; Tyrone West, Damon Ramos both of Denver, Colorado; one daughter/granddaughter, Maleiah Ramos of Denver, Colorado; Carlos Parham a special friend of Denver, Colorado; one brother, George (Jean) Hayes of Jonesboro, Louisiana; two sisters; Clara Dell (Ezekiel) Leonard of Quitman, Louisiana and Minnie Ankton, Arkadelphia of Arkansas; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Tyrein West, Queen West, Justice West, Damon Ramos Jr., Samara McGree and Casey West all of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren; Syair Smith, Xavier Smith, Amuya Smith, JaZyah Smith, Adonis Smith, Exzereyon Smith, J’Morion Smith, S’Olae Smith all of Denver, Colorado; her close friend, Barbara V. Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
