Precious Memories Phyllis Joanne Love Delahoussaye Phyllis Joanne Love Delahoussaye was born February 29, 1952, at Fort Sill Army Base in Oklahoma; to Earline Taylor Love and John Bernard Love Sr. Phyllis was a vibrant and beautiful woman who grew up predominately in Denver, Colorado; where she fostered many great friendships, most of which she considered family. During this impressionable time, she attended Manual High School, where she was crowned Home Coming Queen and Miss Jabawockee. During this phase of her life, she met two amazing young men; Rodney Lee Harris and Gregory Clay Burgin Sr., whom she later married. She was the mother of four beautiful children, Shaynee LaVonne, Howard Gregory, Carol Elaine, and Peter Joseph. Phyllis and her family moved to California in 1982. She furthered her education by attending Webster Career College and Colleen O'Hara Cosmetology School, where she earned a Cosmetology Degree. Phyllis loved beaches and every chance she got, she would take her children to as many beach locations as she could drive to. One of her favorites deemed her 'serenity spot' was in Laguna Beach. Phyllis relocated to Paris, Texas in 1999, where she later married a long-time friend, Leroy Joseph Delahoussaye. Leroy preceded her in death in 2010. In 2012, Phyllis moved back to Denver, Colorado. She became the primary caretaker of her mother who battled breast cancer. In 2015, Phyllis was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She had several bouts with cancer both Cervical and Breast cancers but with pancreatic cancer, she knew it was going to be a different type of battle and she chose to fight with ALL her might, while dressed to the 9's and wearing her biggest smile. She found new determination and created a bucket list. She started enjoying her life as best she could. She traveled to Jamaica, first class with her cousins. Jennifer and Donna Calloway. She enjoyed road trips across the country just to place her big toe in the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. She ate beignets and Shrimp and Grits in New Orleans. She took on Universal Studios Orlando, riding all the big roller coasters that she really wasn't tall enough to ride. She conquered her fear of flying and became a jet setter going back and forth to California even when she didn't feel well enough to travel. She drove to Texas with her eldest son, Greg for her family reunion. She drove to Arizona with her boyfriend, Bo, to attend her eldest daughter's college graduation. She even journeyed to Disneyland with all her children which was the initial reason for moving to California in 1982. She took one final Disneyland trip in October of 2016. She walked the entire park and rode rides with the broadest of smiles. She rode, It's a Small World with her three-week-old granddaughter. marking her final trip and the baby's first. Lastly, during one of her hospital stays, Phyllis, a die-hard Bronco Fan, had the opportunity of meeting Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos Quarterback. She was happy and elated to have met him. She fought hard but never bowed down to cancer. On December 1, 2016, Phyllis Joanne Love-Delahoussaye was called home to be with the Lord in Wheat Ridge, CO.
