As a child, he enjoyed playing sports. A fond memory of Phillip, was when he was about 8 years old, an elderly woman was making fun of him because he was wearing his cowboy boots on the wrong feet. He became so angered that he picked the lady up off the ground and held her in the air. Phillip received his formal education in Des Moines, where he graduated from Technical High School. He furthered his education by attending Marshall Town College located in Marshall Town, IA. He played Semi-Pro Football in Colorado. He received numerous awards for his athletic ability in the area of football. Phillip was stranger to hard work. He has worked in a variety of jobs. He worked as a Meat Logger; a Pharmacy Technician for Denver General Hospital and a Bus Aide for the Denver Public Schools. Wherever employed, he was hard-working, dedicated and worked well with his fellow co-workers and supervisors. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Phillip accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a very early age. He joined the Union Baptist Church in Des Moines, IA. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who spread the joy of laughter and was a man who never met a stranger. To know Phillip was to love him.
