Pearlie Moham affectionately called "Pearl" by family and friends was born on March 3, 1940, in McWilliams, Alabama to her parents, Yancy Dave Turk and Dovie Minnie Stallworth. She was the fourth child born in the family. She had four brothers, Robert, Leroy, Charles, Brady and five sisters, Exie, Evelyn, Earthel, Naomi and Elaine. Growing up, she loved reading books and was an academic scholar, but more than anything, she loved serving the Lord. She received her early education by graduating from Waldo Matthews High School in Silsbee, Texas. She furthered her education by attending Prairie View College in Prairie View, Texas. She also attended Denver University in Denver, Colorado. Pearl earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Social Work. In 1966, Pearl united in holy matrimony to Robert Moham. They first met in Denver. To this union, a son they named Robert Derryl Moham was born. She was a loving and devoted mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her son. This marriage was later dissolved. She was later blessed with three beautiful grandchildren, Chelsea, DeAndre' and DeAmani. The love she shared for her grandchildren was unconditional and unwavering. They remember her taking them to the movies, the zoo, and the playground. She took them to church and taught them that they had to have a personal relationship with the Lord. They too shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Pearl was employed as a Social Worker. She worked for the Westwood Pre-School, Clayton College and Cabpes Tutoring. Wherever employed, she was loved by her co-workers, respected by administration and adored by the students placed in her charge. She earnestly made a difference in the lives of those around her because she loved what she was doing. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Pearl was a member of Orchard Road Christian Center for a number of years. She served her church as a member of the Usher Ministry, a Prayer Warrior and she volunteered at Morning Manna. For the past six years, she has been a member of Church In The City/Beth Abraham under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Michael Walker. She truly loved the worship experience and the wisdom and knowledge she was gaining as she studied the Lord in spirit and in truth. Pearl was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, dining out, watching and going to the movies, and watching sports. Her closest friends, Mary, Elizear, Dorothy, Kay and Helen will miss the happy and precious moments they all spent together and the fact that she was a true and genuine friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman who will be remembered for her strong views, her determination, her faith and the love she had for her son, grandchildren, and siblings.
