Growing Up
Pastor Jimmy Lee Harris, Sr. was born on January 14, 1928 in Minter, Alabama to his parents Burgess and Mary Harris. He was the third child born in the family and was raised surrounded by his brothers, Israel and Jesse; and his sisters, Irene, Lula Mae, Essie, Louella and Callie.
Education
Pastor Harris received his formal education by attending Selma University High School in Alabama.
Marriage and Family
Pastor Harris married his best friend, Edna Mae Gaines whom he met in high school. They were married on July 23, 1949, in Selma, Alabama. To this union 9 children were born, Jacqueline, Essie. Gail, Rosa, James, Jr., Reginald, Janice, Alphonso, Calvin and Carlos. He was later blessed with 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren
Career
Pastor Harris furthered his education by attending Barber School, where he earned his barber’s license and opened the “Harris Barber Shop”. After relocating to Denver, Colorado, he began employment with Ford Motor Company, until his retirement.
Church, Organizations, and Clubs
After moving to Denver in 1972, he joined Zion Temple Pentecostal Church. He worshipped under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Roland Martin, Sr. Being led by the Lord, Pastor and Evangelist Harris opened “Temple of Prayer Church”.
Friends and Leisure Time
Pastor Harris enjoyed spending time at the park with his children and grandchildren. Having family dinners and singing together. He will be best remembered by his family and friends for being a praying man and a man of faith. A man with a spirit of excellence.

Parents, Burgess and Mary Harris, and son, James Harris, Jr.
Survived by
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of more than 70 years, Edna Harris; sons, Reginald, Alphonso (Kristy), Calvin and Carlos; daughters, Jacqueline, Essie, Gail (Matthew), Rosa and Janice; brother, Jesse; sisters, Louella and Callie; 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
