Pastor Dr. Karen Elizabeth Wilson was born on January 25, 1957, in Flint, Michigan to her parents, William M. Wilson, Sr. and Green Evelyn Kirk Wilson. She was the sixth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by the love of her brothers, William, Jr., David, Carl and Gregory. She received her early education in Flint, Michigan where she graduated from Northwestern High School. She furthered her education by attending Aspen College and Seminary, in Aurora, Colorado; where she earned her Doctorate in Christian Counseling. On March 11, 1980, Dr. Wilson enlisted in the United States Army. While serving her country, she earned the Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, and earned a Marksman Ribbon for the Rifle. She was stationed in Germany and in Ft. Gordon in Georgia. She served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4 (E4). Dr. Wilson united in holy matrimony to Bobbie Shutes, Sr. The couple first met when they both resided in Flint, Michigan. To this union, a son, Bobbi Shutes, Jr. was born. This marriage was later dissolved. She was also the proud mother another son, she named Timothy. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. She was later blessed with two grandsons, Timothy Erik and William James who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They too shared many happy and memorable moments together. Dr. Wilson was appointed as Assistant Councilor for the Colorado Assessment and Treatment Center. She was employed by KLDC Radio in Board Operations for a number of years, and earlier she worked for the Operations Division of McLean Westerns in Longmont, Colorado. Wherever she was employed, she work with a spirit of excellence and diligence. She worked well with others and was respected by both her co-workers and those who served as supervisors and administration. Dr. Wilson accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Deliverance Jesus Is Coming Ministries of Colorado. She served faithfully under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Larry Herron. She truly loved the fellowship shared with her church family. She was proud of what the ministry was doing for the Kingdom Building Cause. She believed in the power prayer and that everyone needed to have the right relationship with the Lord. Once she accepted the call of God on her life, she became steadfast and unmovable. She was about doing her Father's business by winning souls for Christ. Dr Wilson was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality with family and friends. Her closest friends, Ruth Ann Easterling, Mary McNeil Jones, Leon Owens, Maelo Blanchard, First Lady Bernita Herron and Carol Ann Jackson will miss the camaraderie's they all shared together and the fact that she was a Christian Woman of God who was loyal and trusted worthy They all shared many happy and memorable moments together. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know her was to love her. Pastor Dr. Karen E. Wilson departed this life to join that grand caravan of believers of Christ on December 6, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memories and mourn her loss include 2 sons, Timothy William (Erica) Wilson and Bobbi Shutes; 2 brothers, Carl S. (Vashti) Wilson and William M. (Brenda) Wilson, Jr.; 2 grandsons, Timothy E. Wilson and William J. Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
