Pastor Norman Edward Moon departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on February 27, 2018, surrounded by his family in Denver, Colorado. Norman was born on December 14, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to his parents, Alonzo C. Moon, Sr. and Frances E. (Griffin) Moon. He was the third son born in the family. He received his early education in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he graduated from Palmer High School in 1968. He furthered his education by earning his Ministry Degree from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO in 1976. On September 19, 1969, Norman united in holy matrimony to Deborah J. Rhodes in Colorado Springs, CO. To this union, four sons, Eric, Aaron, Anthony, and Michael were born. He was a devoted husband and father. Norman strived to create a Christian home with love and guidance. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Pastor Moon accepted the Lord as his personal savior at the age of 21. This foundation would be the start of his later call to the ministry. In his early ministry years, Norman was a member of Rays of Light, a gospel singing group. They travelled nationwide and ministered to many people. They witnessed to many who then committed their life to Christ. Later, Norman and Deborah went on to pastor their first church in Denver, Colorado. Along with pastoring his church, he was also an evangelist and was able to minister to people in many countries. In addition, Norman was able to continue showing his love of people through his role at Promise Keepers and as a consultant in the mental health field. His love of music was evident in his Sunday morning worship service as well as in his moments of relaxation. Norman was an avid reader and writer and is the published author of Two Ways to Travel. Norman and Deborah accepted the position as pastors at River of Life Church in Lakewood, CO. He believed in lifting up the Lord with music, praise, and prayer. He shared this wisdom and knowledge with his family and his church family. He is preceded in death by a son, Eric T. Moon; his father, Alonzo C. Moon, Sr.; and a brother, Ronald Lee Moon, Sr. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Deborah J. Moon of Denver, Colorado; 3 sons, Aaron E. (Maribel) Moon, Pastor Anthony E. (Helen) Moon all of Denver, Colorado and Michael A. (Lizette) Moon of Aurora, Colorado; his mother, Frances E. Moon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 2 brothers, Alonzo C. (Pauline) Moon, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Eugene A. (Diane) Moon of Malden, Missouri; 1 sister, Norma J. (Pastor Alfred) Pittman, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 9 grandchildren, Tyler E.R. Moon, Alonzo A. Moon, Elijah E. Moon, Michael A. Moon, Jr., Nyla D. Moon, Erin J. Moon, Liya L. Moon , Anthony E. Moon, Jr. and Christian A. Moon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; The River of Life Church Family; and many friends. In addition, he is also survived by a host of cousins who he loved to laugh with and shared many good times.
