Pamela Kay Lee was born in Amarillo, Texas on June 9, 1960, to parents Moses and Berdene Lee. Pam was the youngest of 9 children born to this union. She had 3 brothers, Ronnie Lee, Robert Lee (preceding her in death), and Ricky Lee (preceding her in death); and 5 sisters, Mary Louise Lee (preceding her in death), Sandra Drennan (Charles), Shelia Bostick, Patricia Clayton, and Elizabeth (Lilly) Lee. Pam has 1 son; Branden Moses Cosby-Lee was born on February 18, 1995 from a previous union.
The Lee family relocated from Amarillo to Denver in 1969 after arriving in Denver Pam attended Mitchel elementary school, Cole Junior High School, and Manual High School. During her time at Manual high School, Pam participated in a training program offered to high school students by Melon Bank. Pam's positive attitude, dedication and intestinal fortitude paid off. Upon graduating from Manual High School in 1978, she was hired by Mellon Bank as a full-time loan processor in their mortgage department. Pam has also worked for other major mortgage companies such as Chase Mortgage, and Pulte Mortgage where she held the title of loan processor.
If you knew Pam, you are well aware Branden is her world. As a single parent, Pam worked tirelessly to ensure Branden wanted for nothing. Pam was a regular at all of Branden's AAU basketball games, school functions, or whatever was required. Pam would often travel out of state with the other parents in support of their children on the same AAU team. Pam amazingly played the dual role of mother and father for a time while unselfishly volunteering her time and efforts with the other parents to ensure all went well for the kids.
Family was of paramount importance to Pam, though she was the youngest, her older siblings respected, admired, and looked up to the woman she had become. Her mother was her rock, a source of unconditional love, strength, inspiration, and compassion. These traits would come to define her as a daughter, sibling and mother. Pam had a humble spirit filled with great integrity, honesty and a kind heart who never complained.
Pam's beautiful smile could light up any room, her infectious personality made her approachable. Not to be played with, she would also let you know when you were treading on thin ice. Pam's eldest sister Sandra said Pam is, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. Pam never hesitated to be there for anyone and was always willing to give whether she had it or not. Pam carried a light in her that transferred to those around her. Whether it was her smile or just her listening and being present, she had a way to make your day better and take away any negative energy. Pam was one of a kind; she is someone that everyone in the family had a special bond with. She always made everyone feel included and loved. If there were any important or even unimportant events happening in any of our lives, she was there. If you could not count on anyone else showing up, you could always count on Pam being there. Pam's love is the reason that a lot of us are who we are.
Pam' sister Patricia (pat) shared a very close relationship with Pam, both her and her mother Berdene, aka "Grannie", were instrumental in the rearing of Branden as a child. Pam and Pat would get together every Saturday to shop, go to the movies, and eat at the Curtis Park Creamery. They would often talk on the phone for hours while watching their favorite reality shows, or crying together over the phone watching "This Christmas"... for the 90th time.
Her sister Lilly has fond memories of the two of them playing with dolls, and riding the bikes they received for Christmas, as well as the mud pies they made.
Pam was very close to her nieces and nephews all of whom look up to her as a role model, always showing love, and tremendous respect. She was always supportive and encouraging in their endeavors. She loved them equally.
Daryl the man of her life, whom she truly loved and is a true blessing, always considered Pam as the one that got away. Then by chance, through an email Daryl sent out during the work week called "Daily Message", Pam responded. From there they began to talk. Already friends, they continued to talk and found they had more in common than they knew. Daryl would tease her by saying "you had your chance. I may be cheap but, I ain't easy, unless you can get me some Kapre' Chicken." Daryl's job often required him to travel to Denver from the east coast, where their relationship blossomed. Daryl told her at one point he flew 1700 miles for kiss. Obviously, Pam had him hooked. Daryl wasn't shy about his feelings for Pam. The she asked Daryl how he felt about coming into a relationship with her having a son that was not his. His reply was "Really, that's the best you can come up with"? No chicken either? Daryl made a vow to Pam he would love Branden as he loved her. Daryl accepted a job offer with the National Park Service and moved from Washington, DC to Denver. From that date Daryl has never left Pam's or Branden's side. When he arrived after a 22-hour drive from DC he asked Pam where is my chicken?
From that day forward, Daryl told Pam I am here to be the man, friend, companion, partner I said I would be. Let me lighten your load, I can handle it, relax...I got this. Their relationship was a perfect fit, God, love, integrity, respect, honesty, trust, and compassion. Daryl recalls their date nights when they would go out to dinner then listen to live jazz every Friday wherever they could find it. Daryl, who can rattle some pots and pans (if you know what I mean), recalled coming home from work one evening to his "baby" as he called her, to a home cooked meal of buffalo wings and rice. He looked at Branden who was already eating and noticed the look on his face while eating. From that point on Daryl told Pam he would take care of the cooking, because food was too expensive to waste.
In March 2017 after a routine physical exam, Pam was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of the blood cancer with no known cure. Chemotherapy ensued soon thereafter. During this time Daryl never left her side. Even spending weeks in the hospital, Daryl made arrangements to work from the room where Pam was hospitalized. He told her I want to be the first face you see when you wake up. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere! If the hospital did not have food Pam liked Daryl would go out and find what she wanted to ensure she was receiving the proper nutrition. After many rounds of chemo, and a bone marrow transplant, Pam's cancer went into remission.
In 2019, after scheduled exam, Pam and Daryl were informed the cancer had returned. It must be noted that through all of these chemo sessions, tests, poking and prodding, Pam never complained, stood strong, unwavering, with the posture of the hardest seasoned soldier.
God called Pam home on May 7, 2019 when he saw she had fought the good fight. Pam passed away peacefully in the arms of the love of her life Daryl, and her sister Patricia at her side.
Pam leaves behind to cherish her memories a legacy of love, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many, many friends all of whom Pam loved dearly.
Pam enjoyed Sudoku, reading, attending movies, shopping, attending Brandens' basketball games, spending time with family, and talking with her lifelong best friend Sherry Richardson (Buggy) as Buggy drove home from work every evening.
