Pamela Hurd

January 8, 1965 — September 24, 2018

Pamela Hurd was born on January 8th, 1965 in Denver, Colorado to her parents Evelyn Hurd and Elix Hurd. She was the youngest of four children in the family. She was raised around her brothers Robert, Will, and Barry. Growing up, she was affectionately called "Pam" by her family and friends. As a child, Pam was remembered as a "Daddy's Girl." If she wasn't with her dad, she was in the kitchen with her mom cooking. In the rare moments, she wasn't there, she could be found in the neighborhood chasing around her brothers and friends. She enjoyed reading and writing as well. That continued into her adult years where she also picked up the love of horror and comedy movies while reading a variety of books. She continued her love of all things culinary and enjoyed putting together recipes while watching cooking shows. On September 14, 1988, Pam brought into this world her first son, DeVaughn. Six years later, on September 11, 1994, she was given the joy of another son Darius. She was a strong, independent woman who raised two sons and took care of her mother at the same time. While doing this, she was able to maintain a happy and loving home. She was then blessed to be the grandmother of Dorian, birthed by DeVaughn and Jasmine. Some memories of Pam include enjoying popsicles with her grandson, who made her pictures for her fridge, and she spoiled him with many gifts for the holidays or any time that she chose. For her sons, if it wasn't for the memories of the scents coming from the kitchen, then it would have to definitely be of her saying "NO!", she loved saying "NO!". We truly believe that her first word as a baby was "NO!." But that's not to say she was serious all the time, Mom could always make people laugh. She also enjoyed being outside rain, sleet, or snow. By profession, she was a Chef, who also maintained an associate degree. Pam most recently worked as a cook for Denver Public Schools. Pam loved cooking and loved being able to provide delicious food for those in her care to enjoy. Even though she enjoyed trying new techniques and flavors, she was known for her spicy meals and soul-food recipes. Pamela Hurd left us on September 24, 2018. She joins her mother, Evelyn, and father, Elix, as well as her brothers, Robert (Helen) and Will (Yvonne). Those left cherishing her memories are her sons, DeVaughn (Jasmine) and Darius; her grandson, Dorian; her brother, Barry; her best friend Charlotte, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
