Ossie Beatrice Brown was born on December 8, 1935, in Clarendon, Arkansas to the late Joseph and Selvie Burgess. "Beatrice", as she was lovingly called, was the fifth born of seventeen siblings, seven siblings preceded her in death. Beatrice joined the Philadelphia Baptist at a young age; she attended and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1954. After completing high school, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked in the health care industry. Beatrice enjoyed helping people and was committed to operating with the spirit of excellence. She lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma for a number of years, before moving to Denver, Colorado in 1977. Beatrice met James Brown (not the singer), and the two would eventually marry. To this union, four children were born, Michael, Carl, Felicia "Lisa", and Ronnie. Her children were the loves of her life; she would soon celebrate her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as additional sources of joy. Beatrice continued her work in the health care field from where she retired. She enjoyed taking walks, going on road trips, and going to the hills. Beatrice will be missed by all who knew her. Ossie Beatrice Brown departed this life June 2, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Michael Brown, Carl Brown, Felicia "Lisa" Brown, Ronnie Brown; grandchildren, Avery Covington, Gerry Deaning; great grandchildren, Kahlil, Ali'yanah and Zendaya Covington. Along with seven sisters, Pearline Beal, Omaha, NE., Doris, Ernford Harris, Betty Smith, Josephine, J.C. Parrish, Mary, Louie Gray, Gloria Rhodes (all of Denver), Irene Roberts Griffin, GA; two brothers, James Burgess, Roosevelt Burgess of Clarendon, Arkansas.
