THE LIFE OF OLIVER DARNELL WELLS
Oliver Darnell Wells was born on July 28, 1959, in Floydada, Texas to Emma Wells-Bell and Oliver Wells. He was the second oldest child of his siblings and was raised in a very large family. Oliver also known as Darrell, grew up in West Texas and completed his education at Duncan & Andrew Ward Elementary Schools, Floydada Junior High School, and Floydada High School. On November 3, 1973, his mother relocated the family to Colorado where he attended John F. Kennedy High School. He was always willing to help, had a loving heart, was very outspoken, and certainly a people person. Oliver worked in various positions at the Post Office, Denver Public Schools, the City & County of Denver, and retired in 2020 from Waste Management.
Oliver was previously married to Victoria Noble. He valued strong relationships with family and friends by staying in touch and being concerned about everyone’s well-being. He was universally admired and loved by all who knew him. Darrell cherished spending time with his grandchildren and spoiled them with gifts. Oliver shared a very special bond with his Aunt Kathie “KC” Lewis & Uncle Bryan Lewis, and he often stopped by to see and hang out with them. Oliver adored, spent quality time, and shared lasting memories with his significant other Alyce Sneed.
Darrell had impeccable style and was a sharp dresser. He was a huge fan of martial arts and watching western movies. Darrell’s hobbies included driving, taking road trips especially to Texas, fishing, riding his motorcycle, collecting boats, cars, and coins. He loved collecting and selling many items. Oliver learned mechanical skills from his grandfather and took pleasure in fixing and restoring old cars. He was very comical, had a contagious laugh, and loved to socialize. Oliver was a man of honor, who overcame many obstacles in his life. Oliver loved to eat; Church’s Chicken & Santiago’s were some of his favorites. Darrell took pride in the upkeep of his lawn.
