Norman E. Barksdale affectionately called, “Stormin Norman” by family and friends was born on January 27, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois to his parents, Stonewall Barksdale and Geraldine Bryant Barksdale. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Terry, Stoney, Stacey, Geno, and his sisters, Terri and Jerri.
Norman received his early education by graduating from high school in Chicago, Illinois. He furthered his education by attending Culinary College. On December 7, 1979, Norman entered the United States Army. While in the Army, he was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Korea. He served his country with honor and distinction and was honorable discharged.
On July 7. 2017, Norman married, Robin E. Bell. They first met while attending a social gathering in Aurora, Colorado. They shared many happy and precious moments together. Norman was the proud father of three beautiful children, Mich’el, Christopher, and Natasha. They too shared many memorable moments together.
By profession, Norman was employed as a Chef for the Franklin Park Care Center. He loved his job and expressing his culinary skills. He received many compliments from the residence and stall alike.
Norman was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking for family and friends and watching sports. He loved preparing the most succulent meals one ever had. He believed that presentation was just as important as preparation. His closest friend, Garnett Hendrix will miss the comraderies they shared together and the fact that he was a true and trusted friend.
Norman will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who love saying “Life is like a box of chocolates.” To know Norman was to love him.
Norman E. Barksdale departed this life on December 18, 2020, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and cherish his loss include his wife, Robin E. Bell Barksdale of Aurora, Colorado; 2 sons, Mich’el Dontae. Bell of Aurora, Colorado and Christopher Jordan Jones of Hawaii; 1 daughter, Natasha Cheree Jones of Hawaii; 1 brother, Geno Collins of Aurora, Colorado; 2 sisters, Terri Barksdale and Jerri Barksdale both of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
