Nkechi Jenkins-Brown

October 18, 2001 — August 31, 2018

On Thursday, October 1, 2001, in Denver, Colorado a beautiful baby girl, Nkechi Pam Jenkins-Brown was born. She was born to Grover I. Brown and Sheila R. Jenkins. She was the 7th and youngest born of Grover and the only child of Sheila’s. She mostly grew up as an only child. However, blessed her brothers and sisters, Tisa, Aaron, Nina, Katrina, Katrice, and Irvin by being their baby sister. She also enjoyed hanging out with her aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends during cookouts and volunteering for projects and other activities through school. She also loved to shop, Snap Chat, and hang out with friends. Some of her best friends were Jordy, Jarvis, and Destiny. Nkechi loved to read and often visited the library to enjoy the quiet time while reading. Nkechi attended Cole Elementary and Middle School and finally DSST Cole High School. There she was part of the Honors Mathematics Club. She also played Basketball and Volleyball in middle school and some of her High School years. She participated in a community service program called, “See to Seed” where she learned how to plant fruits and vegetables. Through this program, she also learned how to bake and cook. She recently took a trip to Washington DC for the Black Lives Matter Movement. She was able to accomplish this through the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) Organization. Nkechi as a toddler was very energetic, always running around and she was very hard to keep up with! She’d be standing there one moment, then you look up, and she’s gone! She blossomed into a shy and very sweet young lady. She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room. She is said to have been sarcastically hilarious! Her favorite song and saying was “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp”. To know Nkechi was to love her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be especially missed by her mother and father. Nkechi’s name was chosen by her Father. It is of Nigeria from the Bele Tribe and means “Child Who Belongs to God”. Yes, she belongs to God! He blessed us with her presence on this earth for 16 years. We will be forever grateful for having her in our lives. Nkechi Pam Jenkins-Brown departed this life on August 31, 2018, at home in Thornton, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory her Mother, Sheila R. Jenkins; her Father, Grover I. Brown both of Denver, CO; Her siblings, Tisa May Brown of Portland, OR; Aaron Grover Brown (Amber) of Minnesota; Nina Bailey Brown, Katrina Bailey Brown and Katrice Bailey Brown all of New Jersey; and Irvin Albert Brown (Bridget) of Philadelphia, PA; Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and of host of other family members and friends.
