Nancy Thompson

December 6, 1947 — February 8, 2015

Nancy Beatrice Thompson was born on December 6, 1947, in LaGrange, Missouri to her parents, Richard Wade Lewis and Mamie Nancy Garr-Lewis. She was the second child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Billy, Sammy and her sisters, Anita and Regina. Nancy received her early education in Quincy, Illinois where she graduated from Quincy High School. She furthered her education by completing a year of college courses. Nancy was the proud mother of three beautiful children, Jackie, Teya and Dionne. She was a mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. She enjoyed attending school events and activities. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. She also shared as special closeness with Markita, whom she treated and loved as a daughter. She was later blessed with six grandchildren, Dawan, Jeni, Savoy, Delano, Justice, and Gjamari, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Nana or Gigi" and fondly remember all the happy and memorable moments they shared together. Everyone who knew Nancy knew she was a pet lover. A fond childhood memory was that of Nancy befriending what she thought was a dog but turned out to be a fox and she was bitten. That was one of those "teachable moments" that never happened again. She also had a goat that she named December and a dog she named "Midnight." Her current pet dog is named "Shadow." Her love for him was both immeasurable and undeniable. By profession, Nancy was employed for a number of years with Coor's Brewery in its Accounts Payable and Payroll Division. She was hardworking, dedicated and performed her duties with precision and accuracy. She worked well with her fellow co-workers, as well as, her supervisors. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Nancy shared in the ministry of Living Disciple Christian Center in Denver, Colorado under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Norman Chase. She truly believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord. She loved sharing her church family and was happy with the wisdom and knowledge she was gaining as she studied the Bible. Nancy was a fun loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Her closest friends, Mary Williams and Dian Dade will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that she was a true and trusted friend. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, going to the Dog Track and not to mention her visits to "The Hills." She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known the kind and wonderful lady who leaves a void that can never be filled. To know Nancy was to love her. Nancy Beatrice Thompson departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on February 8, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, Jackie (Brandi) Pollard, III of Denver; two daughters, Teya M. (Victor) Ephrim of Denver and Dionne M. Thompson of Aurora; her brother, Sammy N. Lewis of Aurora; two sisters, Anita M. (Jorge F.) Acosta-Tijerina of Denver and Regina E. Lewis of Concord, NC; her special daughter, Makita M.
