Ms Minister Lee

February 16, 1964 — August 29, 2017

Terry Lynn Lee was born February 16, 1964 in Denver, Colorado. She was the daughter of George Lee and Hattie Caughman. Terry is one of five siblings. She was raised with her sister Janet and often times visited her three brothers George, Jimmy, and Jerry in Texas. She matriculated through the Denver Public School system and received her high school diploma from George Washington High School in 1982. Her education was extensive. She received an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Nursing from Front Range Community College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Metropolitan State College of Denver, and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing at Regis University. She was also a doctoral student at St. Louis University and was approved to graduate with her Ph.D in 2018. Terry’s education was extremely important to her which was evident by the many honor awards she received. She spent her working life in academia. Terry accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She sang in the choirs at Macedonia Baptist Church and Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was also a member of the famous Colorado Mass Choir. Terry was an ordained Minister at Now Faith Christian Center Church where she was a member for more than 30 years. While at Now Faith, she was involved with both the health and youth ministries. Recently, she became a member of Unity Church of God In Christ. Although, for only a short time, she was able to preach and touch the lives of many. Minister Terry's education was a pathway to help others. She was an instructor at Regis University, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, a Co-Chair of the Colorado Coalition of STD Prevention, and a staff nurse at the University Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She also provided nursing care to inmates at the local correctional facility. She was actively involved in many national and local outreach organizations which included It Takes a Village/Phenomenal Women support group, 9Health Fairs, Eastern Colorado Council of Black Nurses, National Black Nurses Association, National League Nurses, Public Health Nurses Associations of Colorado and countless others. One of her greatest accomplishments was founding the second chapter of the Mile High Black Nurses Association here in Denver, CO. Some memories from her children are as followed: “My mom was a very unique person. Everybody knew she was strong, hard-working, driven and outspoken. She had a soft spot for her children and grandchildren. Whatever they asked for, she made sure they got it. I remember when Zahnye was two, she randomly said, “Nina, pink skates, pink skates.” Three days later, Nye had a present with not only pink skates but also a pink helmet, some pink knee pads, and some pink elbow pads. She always made it happen” “Mom was present for the birth of all her grandchildren. Even though two were in a totally different state. I remember her saying, “Hold on baby. I'm on my way.” No matter what was going on, she made it happen.” “I will always remember my mom for being a pray-warrior. She literally prayed for everything and everybody. Even on her death bed she was speaking in tongues. The joy of the Lord was always in her heart. The desire to speak things into existence never left her soul. It was like every time she prayed for you, you felt a sense of peace. A new spark of hope was left within you. She had power in her tongue that if she said it, it was going to happen. You automatically believed it. That is what I will miss most about her. Because the first thing I ever did when something happened, whether bad, good, happy or sad, was call my mom. And every time she would say, “Well you just gotta pray about it”." “I'm going to miss our random video chats. I'm going to miss my kids assuming every time my phone rings, that it's their Nina. I am going to miss her. Everything about her” “My mother has always had a unique relationship with God. She always told me stories about how God would comfort her or as she would feel his presence. Whether it was in times of need or just when she was lonely. Her faith was something that inspired many of us sitting here celebrating her life today and that's something that we can remember her by. My mother's love for God was like a fire that never ceased to burn and it was contagious. Even while she was in the hospital she impacted people's lives and made a difference.” Those left to celebrate her life and cherish loving memories include her daughters: Dionne (Garvin) Casimir of Virginia and Kiana Lee of Denver; sons: Joshua and Torey Lee of Denver and Jeremy Lee of Lakeville, Florida; three grandchildren: Javion, Zahnye and Kingston; sister, Janet Mayfield; brothers:,Jerry (Nell) Lee, George (Allie) Lee and Jimmy (Dee) Lee all of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
