Mother Worsley

December 24, 1945 — March 30, 2020

"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again."

-Maya Angelou

Barbara "Baps" "Barbie doll" "Fairy GodMother" "BW" Ann Worsley, daughter of the late Otis Reed and Reva Woods was born on Christmas Eve 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Barbara was born a caretaker with an endless amount of love to give. Even at 8 years old she took it upon herself to go over to her neighbor's home to help a single mother with cooking and laundry. She attended Booker T. Washington high school, and years later she was blessed with two beautiful girls, Cheryl Reed, and Vickie Reed. So after, she met her husband James "Jimmy" Worsley at a mixer at the Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. They soon married, and their union was blessed with four children: Kim, Durrant, Marc, and Pia. Barbara loved having a large family and took pride in dressing everyone immaculately for church every Sunday. She always found joy in life and would recall how happy and content it made her to press her children's clothing and organize them perfectly in the closet-a ritual she followed with a bubble bath and a Coca-Cola, fulfilling her idea of perfect relaxation.

In 1972, Barbara moved her family to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her mother Reva, whom she adored. She worked as a school bus driver so that her schedule allowed her to "keep a good eye on her children." She suffered the loss of two children: Kim (1987) and Marc (1994). Despite her tragic loss, her faith never wavered and only brought her closer to God.

Throughout her life, she remained dedicated to bible study and always offered herself to those in need. She was an active member of All Nation COGIC for over 30 years. Barbara was currently a faithful member of Graham Memorial Church Of God In Christ and held several positions within the church over the years, including Prayer and Bible Band President, Pastor’s Aide President and a valuable member of the Mother's Board. Every moment she could spare was committed to her church and praising the Lord. As a beloved member of her church community, she organized meetings, fundraising efforts, and gathered items for the homeless, among many other efforts, all of which fulfilled her life and made her truly blessed.

Barbara took care and pleasure in everything she did and was a diligent, hard worker in every facet of her life. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, wife, friend, Christian, and caregiver. She loved life and celebrating the milestones of those she loved, never missing a graduation or birthday. She carried herself with an infectious calm and positive energy and was known for her style and grace. She dressed for perfection and always looked gorgeous. As many who knew her would say, "Worsley sure can dress!!!" She will be remembered for her fashion, which shined her soul to the world.

In the 74 years, Barbara graced this world she made it a better place. For all whose lives she touched, we are blessed to have had the honor of knowing such an incredible woman. Every bone in her body was filled with love and kindness. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all she knew. She will be greatly missed, but her faithful positive energy will survive in cherished memories.

Barbara is preceded in death by her son, Marc Worsley; her daughter, Kim Worsley; and her mother, Reva Woods.

Barbara departed this life on March 30, 2020, at the Medical Center of Aurora. She was welcomed into the Lord's warm embrace and reunited with her mother and children in Heaven. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, friends, and the many more whose lives she touched. She is survived by her children Cheryl, Vickie (Kenny) Durrant, and Pia(David); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings Jessie Reed, Cathy Reed, Candy Wilson, and Colin (Betty) Jones; Dear friends, Leona Masters, Willa Ward, and Marlene Wells, Margie Wilkins among many others and including her nieces and nephews. Including her God children, Tammy Carter, Brittney Johnson, and Markus Carter. She is also survived by Gracie & Kyle McClure, Lawson McClure, Vivienne McClure, Annie Kay, Lisa & David Johnson, the family she lovingly cared for over the last 35 years. Lawson was the apple of her eye.
