Mother Survine

June 25, 1935 — April 25, 2015

Rosie Lee Madison Bryant was born on June 25, 1935 in Clay, Louisiana to her parents, Willie Lee Bryant, Sr. and Geneva Madison Bryant. Rosie accepted Christ at the early age of 9 years old, under the leadership of Pastor C. C. McClain at the Galilee Baptist Church in Hodge, Louisiana. Her education began in Old Galilee Baptist Church. Rosie attended Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Rosie went on to complete 2 ½ years of study at Grambling College in Grambling, Louisiana. In April 1956, Rosie met and married Dr. D. M. Survine, Jr. after one week of courtship. This union was blessed with five children: Demaster, III, Rickey, Rose, Charles, and Jacqueline. His pastoral leadership took the family many places such as Arcadia, Louisiana, San Francisco, California, and Los Angeles, California before settling in Denver, Colorado in 1969. By profession, Rosie worked in the medical industry as a nursing home attendant and later a medical records clerk. Her co-workers considered her as a dedicated and committed person who loved to help others. Her greatest source of joy would have been the many years she served our Lord and Savior as a choir member and usher at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Denver, CO and Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Aurora, CO. In 1998, she joined the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church of Aurora, CO under the Leadership of Reverend Fred Brockington. She was a faithful member who took her relationship with the Lord very serious. Rosie's favorite pastime was sewing and cooking. She enjoyed the many meals that were shared with her family and friends. Rosie was loved by all of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. D. M. Survine, Jr.; her son, D. M. Survine, III; her parents, Willie and Geneva Bryant; and her older brother, Willie Bryant, Jr. On April 25, 2015 at the age of 79 years young, Rosie's battle of illness came to end, when God quietly called her home. God reached down and picked his most precious flower. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Rickey Survine, Rose Survine, Charles (Melissa) Survine, and Jackie Holmes; 14 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; other relatives and dear friends.
