Montrose Burns

Montrose Floyd Burns was born on December 21, 1932, in Lexington, Missouri to Irna and Ewell Gordon Burns. He was the oldest of six children. In 1957, Montrose married Ruth Lee Washington. During this 37-year marriage, they raised seven children, which included, Terry Dallas, Rose Mary Webb, Glen Dale Washington, Darline Harden, Debra Green, Rita Edwards, and Renee Conway. Later, he met Neoma P. Smith and they married on March 28, 1995. They together raised her four kids, Monique Younger, Jeannette Cooper, Jerry, Jr. Smith, and Leoma Lewis. They enjoyed 20 years of marriage together. He was employed as an Irons Man for many years. He also worked at Denver Public Schools transportation until he retired. Montrose enjoyed being with family and friends playing a good game of cards or dominoes. He also enjoyed doing carpentry and providing maintenance to family vehicles for a cold case of beer. He liked collecting thing, which includes his remote control cars and his hats. Montrose was also one of the founding members of The Denver Chapter formed in 1975. Montrose was preceded in death his parents, his first wife, Ruth Lee Burns, his brothers, Ewell "Jitterbug" Gordon, Donald Gordon, and Gerald Burns Gordon. Montrose Floyd Burns departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on May 22, 2015. Those left to cherish is his loving wife and best friend Neoma P. Burns: his two brothers, William "Bill" Gordon of St. Louis, MO, Dennis Danner of Blue Springs, MO; his two sisters, Karen "Kay" Elliot, Ewelleen Elliot both of Richman, MO; his aunt, Leah Richie; his cousin, Florence Wilkins; his 6 daughters, 3 sons, 32 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
