Missionary Cynthia Lipscomb
Missionary Cynthia Lipscomb, was born to her parents, Jimmie L. and Catherine Byars on November 15, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia. She was raised with her siblings, Michael, Jimmie, Joseph and Veda.
Cookie matriculated through Denver Public Schools, and graduated from George Washington High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education at Denver University and Metro State College where she earned an associate degree in business.
As a child, Cookie had a phenomenal voice, she joined the choir and continued through her adult years.
Amongst Cookie’s proudest accomplishments were that not only did she obtain her degree but also became a member of Beta Rho Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She was also honored to be selected as a debutante. These are a testament to her dedication to personal growth and excellence in all endeavors.
Cookie's life was one filled with purpose and dedication. Throughout her career, she worked as a Beneficiary Service Specialist at TIAA-CREF and Pitney Bowe's, touching the lives of many through her hard work.
Cookie dedicated her life to serving the Lord, she gained membership at True Faith Church of God in Christ in 1961. She served in many capacities including President of the YWCC of the local church and District President of the YWCC. She found joy in accompanying her grandchildren to church and school events. Cookie's life was intertwined with music, faith, and family. Her memories will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Those who know her best describe her as kind and respectful, Cookie’s presence brightened the lives of those around her. In her free time, she found joy in the company of friends like Marrianne and Terry Wright, Sherrie and Steve Hudson, Queenie Ramos and Annette Harrison. Dining out and attending church events brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
As we mourn the loss of Missionary Cynthia Lipscomb from our earthly presence, may we find solace in the memories we shared with her and take comfort in knowing that her spirit now shines bright in eternity.
She is preceded in death by her father, Pastor Jimmie L. Byars; daughter; Delisha Robinson; brothers, Michael Byars and Joseph Byars.
