Sunrise … Michael Cordell Parsons was born August 30, 1955 in Denver, Colorado to Joe L. Parsons and Bayonne Saunders Parsons. Michael was the apple of his Mother's eye. Bayonne, along with his grandparents, Bill and Gene Saunders, ensured that Michael's every wish was granted. Michael was well cared for ~ which some would consider, "spoiled". Michael received his formal education in the Denver Public School System graduating from Manual High School in 1974. During his tenure as a "Thunderbolt", Michael was considered one of a kind and was known for his love of clothing and his ability to wear it well. Michael often reflected on his days at Manual … his participation on the basketball team and his fondness of the "jukebox" located in the cafeteria. Michael had many warm memories of his days as a Manual Thunderbolt. Family … Michael had a strong love for his family and was respected by all his brothers and sisters. He was known for preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. He was an exceptional cook. Michael's siblings smile as they remember how finicky Michael was when cleaning the family house. He strived for perfection in ensuring that every nook and cranny was cleaned. Michael was the father of one daughter, Jerilyn whom he loved dearly. He was exceptionally proud of Jerilyn and her many accomplishments, which he shared with many. Jerilyn was deeply devoted to her father. Her love for him was endless. Profession … Throughout his career, Michael was employed at the Denver Athletic Club, Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital and at the U. S. Army Military Base located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hobbies … Michael LOVED sports and had a strong desire to play football, yet his slender physique prohibited him being selected. This did not deter Michael, although he never played football, his love for football never wavered. Michael was an all-around sports fanatic. He loved basketball, baseball, boxing and football to name a few. Michael was a devoted Bronco fan watching and cheering the Broncos to victory every single Sunday! Michael had a passion for music. His daughter, Jerilyn fondly remembers riding in the car with him playing "Hey You, Get Off My Mountain" by the Dramatics and "Zoom" by the Commodores and hitting "repeat" continuously. Sunset … On Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 59 years of age, Michael Cordell Parsons peacefully passed away at the home of his mother, Bayonne Chappell. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Jean Saunders and one brother, Dale Ray Chappell. Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Bayonne (Bobbie) Chappell, his father Joe (Dorothy) Parsons and his daughter Jerilyn Bass and was the devoted friend of Sherry Pipkin and her daughter Ilia Walker all of Denver, Colorado. Joe Parsons, Jr., Roshawne Parsons, Sheila and Keith Stuart all of Denver, Colorado. Ronald Parsons, Vallejo, California; Karen (James) Washington, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mike Stuart, Kansas City, Missouri. 3 uncles ~ Pastor James Saunders, Colorado Springs, Colorado; John Parsons, San Diego, California; and Jim Parsons, Aurora, Colorado; 3 aunts ~ Frances Glover, Mary Williams, Denver, Colorado and Ruby West, Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
