Melvina Delille was born to her parents, Alberta James and Joseph M. Delille on January 10, 1938 in Louisiana. She was raised with her siblings, Melvin, Samual, Joseph, Mary and Felice. As a child, Melvina loved to dance, she was very gregarious and had an appreciation for life. She was educated through the Louisiana Public School System.
Melvina moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married a young man named Danny Hope whom she loved dearly. One of their favorite past times included spending one on one time together. In totality, she was blessed to have six children, LC, Roosevelt, Lindette, Starlel, Rhoda and Warren.
She gained an additional source of pride and joy with the addition of her grandchildren, Wendy, Darryl, Michael, Felisha, Alica and Ben, along with a host of great grandchildren. Her grandchildren recall that she enjoyed going on little walks in the mornings, and she always made sure to make breakfast for them, typically referring to it as her “3 hags in a bag” when they would come over.
By profession, Melvina was an educator who truly enjoyed working with children. She also found her niche donating her time with the Volunteers of America where she participated as support staff. She always performed her duties with a spirit of excellence and never made excuses as to why she could not get things done.
To know Melvina was to love her, she was very genuine and selfless. She always focused on the needs of others and never put herself first. Most memorable however, is that she was truly the “Life of the Party”, her presence was felt in any room she entered.
Melvina passed away peacefully into the embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 14, 2023. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, LC, Roosevelt, Lindette, Starlel Lee and Warren Lee, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.
