Melissa Durrah

Melissa Lashon Durrah was born on April 17, 1974, in Denver, Colorado, to parents, Phyllis Fletcher and Charles Durrah. She enjoyed her childhood with her brother, Cameron. As a child, she was very adventurous and kept things lively around her home. Melissa received her formal education in the Denver Public Schools District, completing her secondary education at South High School. After High School, Melissa decided to start a career in the healthcare field. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in nursing homes until she finally got her foot in the door at Rose Medical Center in the career she loved working in medical records. After spending 15 years at Rose, she changed career paths and went into Retail Sales Manager at Burlington Coat Factory. Melissa was a proud, warm, and loving mother to her two children, Donald and Daquisha. They spent countless hours together sharing ideas and shopping. Her children remember their mother having to be glamorous, some would call her, “Boujee.” Later, she was blessed with one grandchild, Ranyiah. Ranyiah remembers coloring with her “Me-Maw,” as she would lovingly call her, and eating chocolate ice cream. Melissa loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them all. To Melissa, family was everything and so was shopping. With her outgoing personality, Melissa never met a stranger. She enjoyed being around people and helping others. She was a caregiver from the heart. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Charles Durrah. Melissa Lashon Durrah departed this life on September 14, 2018, in Aurora, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Donald Durrah; her daughter, Daquisha Durrah; grandchild, Ranyiah Haralson; her mother, Phyllis Fletcher, all of Denver, CO; stepfather, Billy Mitchell, Galveston, TX; one brother, Cameron Fletcher, Sr., Denver, CO; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
