Maye Dixon

June 27, 1927 — November 23, 2016

Maye Harrell Dixon was born in Douglas, Georgia on June 27, 1927 to her parents, Priscilla and Thomas "Joe" Lollar. She was the third child born to this union, with two sisters, Johnnie Mae and Clara Dean, and three brothers, Thomas, Jr., George, and Henry "Buster". Maye received her formal education in the Georgia Public School District. She then furthered her education by attending South Georgia State College and Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas. Maye received her associate's degree in Early Childhood Development and Special Education. While in Amarillo, Texas, Maye met and married R. C. Dixon. In 1967, The family then moved from Amarillo, Texas to Denver, Colorado. With her degree in hand, by profession, Maye worked for the Denver Public School District as a Paraprofessional. She also worked with Sharing and Caring Ministries. Maye enjoyed life itself to include her family, close friends, fishing and traveling. She was always on the go. Rather it would've been going on a road trip, cruise, and/or a shopping spree. Maye did it all, if not, she did everything her way. Maye being the excellent cook that she was hosted many parties and cookouts, never having an unsatisfied belly leaving her presence. Maye was an adamant Denver Bronco and Colorado Rockies fan. She enjoyed playing card games like, Tunk and Bidwiz and playing Dominos. To know her was to love her. Maye was preceded in death by her husband, R. C.
