Maxine White-Barnes

Maxine White-Barnes was born on December 16, 1945, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Robert White and Lillie Shotwell White. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Robert Lee and her sister, Darlene Kay. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. Maxine received her formal education in Denver, where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education by completing courses in health care administration. She later became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in both hospitals and in private clinics. In 1997, she received a Woman of the Year Award for her hard work and dedication. She truly enjoyed helping and caring for the patients placed in her care. She retired from nursing after many years of faithful and dedicated service. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Maxine has been a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church. She joined the church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Wendell T. Liggins. She truly enjoyed the fellowship shared with her church family and wisdom and knowledge she gained as she studied God's Word. Maxine was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she was a volunteer at the Denver Zoo for over ten years. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Maxine was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillie Mae White; her brother, Robert Lee White and her sister, Darlene Kay White. Maxine White Barnes departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on December 27, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include 2 nieces, Judy Lopez of Anaheim, California and Kathy Clark-Chandler; 3 nephews, Gerald Z. Hammond, Robert C. White and Michael R. White; her cousins, Bobby Green and Mozelle Bell-Johnson; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
