Matthew Levy, Jr. was born on April 17, 1940, in Richland, Mississippi; to his parents, Matthew Levy, Sr. and Florida Alexander Levy. He was the third child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, James Edward, Samuel, Robert, James Earl and his sisters, Virgie, Patricia, Willistein, Linda, Pearlie Mae, and Alberta. Matthew was raised to be hard working, self-reliant and independent. These admirable traits were characteristics he shared and passed on to his family. In 1998, he united in holy matrimony to Elwanda Hodge. They first met in 1986. To this union, Keena and Bria were born. He was also the proud father of twins, Aderetta, Ederetta, Antoinette, Matthew and Theodore. He was later blessed with 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. By profession, Matthew was the owner and operator of B&M House of Glass for over thirty five years. He truly enjoyed being his own boss and serving his clients. He performed his duties with precision and excellence. For many years, Matthew held his company picnic in which he personally prepared the food cooked from scratch. He was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, Matthew enjoyed fishing, hunting and he was a member of the ABC Bowling Club. He also enjoyed watching western movies and cooking. His closest friends, Mr. Robertson, Uncle Nick and Mr. OC will miss the camaraderie they all shared together as friends. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of kind guy. To know Matthew was to love him. Matthew was preceded in death by his daughter, Pearleen Adams, and his parents, Matthew Levy, Sr. and Florida Levy. Matthew Levy, Jr. departed this life on June 18, 2014, in Aurora, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his loss, his loving and devoted wife, Elwanda Levy of Aurora; 2 sons, Matthew W. Levy and Theodore Taylor both Denver; 5 daughters, Adreatta (Keith) Hogeland, Edreatta Curvin, all Denver, Antoinette (Robert) Rice, Chattanooga, TN, Keena M. Levy, Denver and Bria D. Levy, Aurora; 2 brothers, James Edward (Katherine) Levy, Lexington, MS and James Earl (Barbara) Levy, Bennett, CO; 5 sisters, Virgie Levy Jenkins, Aurora, Patricia (Greg) Levy Carter, Chattanooga, TN, Linda (David) Levy Taylor, Memphis, TN, Pearlie Mae (Robert) Wright, Jackson, MS, and Alberta (Pete) Malone, Chicago, IL; 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
