The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Mary Lee Huntley-Schoen on November 6, 1943. Mary was born to Steve Simmons, Sr. and Ida Lou Simmons in Bradley, AR. She was the 6th child of 10 children, Ernestine, Ida, Steve Jr., Marsha, Betty, Clara, Matthew, Flora, and Frank, born to this union.
In 1962, while still in Bradley, Mary met and married Earnest Huntley. To this union, they welcomed a daughter, Angela, and a son, Earnest Anthony. Mary and her family joined her parents and other siblings in Denver, CO in 1964. Then in 1987, Mary married Marvin Schoen in Aurora, CO. Mary went on to become a mother to another daughter, Erin Postlethwaite, in 1985 and took in Mark Andersen in 2010.
Mary was also an incredible Granny to Tamara Taylor-Jones, Amanda Bradley, LaTosha Taylor, Ciera (Kenneth) Huggins, Dominque Huntley, Cevyon Postlethwaite, and Milford Huntley.
During her amazing life, Mary accomplished many things including her master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver. She retired from T.S.A. after a successful career in 2014. She came to know and love Christ at an early age and was baptized at Olley Baptist Church in Bradley and was a cherished member of Heritage Christian Center for over 30 years.
Mary’s family and friends remember her as a woman with a larger-than-life personality. In her free time, she enjoyed going to the Hills during a full moon for good luck, watching the Broncos play, and especially loved spending time with her family a.k.a. her “cute people”. They will remember her for the way that she loved life, her huge heart, big smile and laugh, and above all else, her vivaciousness.
Mary departed from this life on Sunday, August 14, 2022 in Aurora, CO surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Earnest; daughter, Angela; and her siblings, Ernestine, Matthew, Steve Jr., Clara, and Marsha.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving children, Anthony and Erin; her grandchildren, great grandchildren; siblings, Ida, Betty, Flora, and Frank; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
