Malcolm Matthews

June 20, 1987 — May 21, 2017

" Malcolm's Story Malcolm DeMarcus Matthews was born on June 20, 1987, in Gretna, Louisiana to his parents, Archie Matthews, Jr., and Edna Matthews. He was seventh child in a blended family of eight children. He had four brothers, and three sisters: Archie Ree, III, Andre Lamont, Clarisse Mignon, Brian Elliot, Kristen Liane, Brianna Monique, and Eric Lawrence. Malcolm wasn't the first child, nor was he the youngest; however, he was a force to be reckoned with. He would definitely let you know, he was never going to be last at anything. Underneath this tough exterior, he had a big heart, and was very sensitive. Malcolm had a personal relationship with his Heavenly Father. From an early age, his favorite verse was "Psalms 23". He would often say it when he was upset to help get through most situations. Malcolm loved his family, and he was very loyal to his friends. Malcolm was very playful and loved to "harass" his nephews, and talk smack with his siblings. "We all grow and mature in life in our own unique way through time, trial and error - Malcolm was no exception. Before he went to live on his own, he made many changes in his life, changes that would make any parent proud." Malcolm attended school in the Cherry Creek School District, graduating from Grandview High School in 2005. After graduation, he worked with his father at Matthews Landscape, Inc. Among other various jobs, he held over the years, his last job was with Split Rail Fencing Company. Malcolm was a dedicated worker who enjoyed giving his all. His co-workers would say he was committed to excellence. "Mr. Personality" would always tell you exactly what was on his mind in no uncertain terms. "The Webster Dictionary term for "filtered" never crossed his mind." He would say his piece, satisfied, he would move on and soon after have you cracking up about something else. However, when anyone needed his help, he was there to help in whatever capacity the situation called for. Malcolm loved music, a good movie and was passionate about food, chicken didn't have a chance. Not to mention his love for the New Orleans Saints. His favorite, "Holiday" was 04/20. Malcolm DeMarcus Matthews departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on May 21, 2017, in Lone Tree, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his parents, Archie Matthews, Jr. and Edna Matthews; his 7 siblings, Archie Matthews, III, Andre' Matthews, Clarisse Montero-Matthews, Brian Matthews, Kristen Matthews - Grovner, Brianna Matthews, Eric Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.   Malcolm Favorite Sayings: "Only God Can Judge Me", "I'm Too Black For that", "Wooglie Booglie".
