Mable Lean Payne was born on May 30, 1965 in Hornersville, Missouri to her parents, Branch Bernard Norris and Mary Lee Gaston Norris. She was the first born in the family. She was blessed to share her childhood with four sisters, Vickey, Mary Ann, Crystal, Belinda, and two brothers, Branch and Alonzo. As a child, Mable enjoyed the Christmas holiday, opening presents from oldest to youngest. She would watch her brothers run the train through the house, and play dolls house with her sisters. The only thing she disliked about Christmas was cleaning chitterlings, but she enjoyed eating them. Mable received her General Education Diploma and later went on to receive an Associate degree from Arapahoe Community College. She studied business and focused on Data Entry. She was very efficient and detailed oriented. With these skills, Mable worked as a Paraprofessional for Denver Public School, DPS, for 13 years and later changed her profession to become a custodian for the remaining time she worked for DPS. Around 1993, Mable met Rickey Allen Payne. They were inseparable and loved being together. In 1996, at the Denver Colorado City and County building, in front of the Justice of the Peace, the two were married. They separated, but remained friends until his death in 2016. Mable was the proud mother of eight children, Laté, Victoria, Rickey Norris, Nicole, Bonnie, Matthew, Luke, Rickey Payne, and those children she loved as her own, Shala and Shana. Mable loved being around her family, which included 19 grandchildren; whose ages range from 1 to 15 years of age. Her grandchildren lovingly nicknamed Mable, “G. G.” In Mable’s free time, she enjoyed reading suspense and horror books. She also enjoyed learning from reading cook books, so she could “throw down”; one of her favorite dishes was potato salad. Mable would also write her own books. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to the casino, and smoking her cigarettes. As Mable grew up her favorite holiday became, Halloween, and her favorite colors were black and forest green. Mable reunites in eternity with her mother, Mary Lee Gaston Norris, and her grandson, Romero Donte Leon Norris Mable Lean Payne’s sunset was on Thursday, December 7, 2017, in Thornton, Colorado.
