Lyta Carol McVea-Jordan was born February 29, 1956, to Jack and Eleanor Louise McVea in Los Angeles California. She was raised with her two sisters, Jackie McVea-Grant and Traci McVea, along with their brother, Robert L. McVea, all who have preceded her in death. Lyta graduated from George Washington High in Los Angeles, and to further her education, she attended Pepperdine University where she earned several degrees. Upon completion of her studies, she began teaching in the Medical Assistance field where she met and eventually married Leon Chester Jordan on February 16, 1985. Six years later, on March 11, 1991, she gave birth to her only son, Muhammad Bilal-Yusef Abdullah, also known as Billy. She left California and moved to Denver, Colorado in 2004, where she continued her education, majoring in Psychology, while also volunteering in the community. She loved helping others and being a part of the Spiritual Project Choir, which she joined in 2014; it was something that brought her immense joy. "This year was supposed to be the year that she'd do better for herself. She was ready to go back into the world and stay active." For a workout, Lyta and Billy would always play a game of tag in the morning, it kept their spirits up even if they were sad. Lyta was the socialite of the family. She always wanted to make things better constantly wanting to help others and making them feel like family. Lyta buried most of her family including her husband, her daughter, her parents, and both of her sisters. She was able to do it, and deep down it still hurt her. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Brian. "It's almost like every time someone dies in the family, someone steps up to take charge of the situation no matter how much that person was in pain." Lyta Carol McVea-Jordan departed this life on March 25, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. She leaves behind her loving son, Billy, her blessed eight nephews and nieces: Damon, Denise, Kelli, Shawn, Robert "Petey", June, Deitrich "Peaches", Shannon, 25 great grandnephews and nieces and her six great-great grandnephews and nieces, as well as her beloved cousins, Beverly Grant, Reese Grant-Cobb, Bryce King, Elaine Johnson, and her lifelong friend Roy L. Walker and a host of other family and many friends
