Luthrean Buckman

November 9, 1951 — October 29, 2017

Luthrean B. Buckman was born on November 9, 1951, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Esliva and Ernest Buckman. He was the 11th child of 12 children; he was raised surrounded by his brothers, Don, Roy, Carl, Earl, Ernest, Jr., Phillip, Eugene; sisters, JoAnne, Jeannetta, Opal, and Cynthia. During his childhood, he participated in the Battle of Quartets with the Four Chimes, which was Luthrean, his brother Eugene Buckman, nephew Howard Ryan, and cousin Delbert Crawford where they sang and entertained. He also performed with the Mile High Spectaculars in other events throughout Denver. Luthrean was baptized at Union Baptist Church by Pastor John Walker, and he also sang in the church choir. When his family joined Shiloh Baptist Church, he became a member of the youth choir where his sister, JoAnne was the director. In the 1960's, Luthrean became a member of "The Echoes of Youth Gospel Choir" founded by his sister, Joanne, and brother in law, Henry Ryan. The group included many family members, as well as future stars like, Phillip Bailey and Pam Grier. He was an excellent guitar player lead vocal, and background singer. He attended school in the Denver Public Schools District and graduated from East High School in 1970. Luthrean then went on to fall in love with and eventually married, Evonne Vanderpool, from this union, one son Luthrean B. Buckman Jr., was born. His son was very important to him and he loved him dearly. Luthrean, Jr. preceded his father in death. Luthrean proudly served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged. After his service to our country, he then went on to work various jobs where he could display his strong hospitality skills. He enjoyed working in and with large crowds of people, where his love for dancing and entertaining would shine. His best friend, Charles Wright and the countless many other friends shared their great times together. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him! Luthrean was preceded in death by son, Luthrean Jr.; mother, Esliva Russ; father, Ernest Buckman, Sr.; siblings, Don O'Donnell, Jeannetta Wright, Carl O' Donnell, Opal Jackson, Ernest Buckman Jr., Cynthia Buckman and Phillip Buckman. Luthrean B. Buckman, Sr. went home to rest with the Lord on October 29, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, JoAnne D. Ryan, Roy C. O’Donnell, Earl L. O’Donnell, and Eugene C. Buckman, Sr.;, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
