Lula Reedy

January 19, 1939 — January 21, 2019

God touched the lives of Ulysses and Wife Annie Mae Smith and blessed them with an infant girl on January 19, 1939, and the breath of life was breathed into this baby girl whom they named Lula Mae Smith. The smith family experienced the joy that all parents do in watching their babies grow up, as Lula Mae began to grow up and develop her own character and personality, talking and walking, and playing with her brothers and sisters which surrounded her with love, it was soon time for Lula to go to school. This would be something Lula Mae would experience and truly love. At the same time, Lula Mae displayed a love for the Lord at young age, attending church with her family; she was baptized and accepted the Lord as her Savior.

As she excelled through her educational journey, her grades and accomplishments showed her love for learning. She also started to show that she had a great love and talent for basketball. She played basketball constantly and it showed in how she mastered the sport by her ability to be a great competitor, showing good sportsmanship to teammates and opponents. Thinking and being fast on her feet was always on display, Lula played the position of guard and was elected team captain for three years in a row. She graduated and received her diploma from Mined High School on May 22, 1957.

On April 22,1957, Lula would meet her husband to be at the class banquet. In her own words, she explains, "I went with Mr. Mose Reedy to the dance, it was the most exciting enjoyable, inciting coincident that could have passed through my life too fantastic for words.” Mr. Mose Reedy did not just pass through, Lula Mae’s life, he had come to stay. The two were united in marriage on Dec 13, 1958 in Long Branch, Texas. Soon after they moved to Chicago, where they lived for one year and decided to move to Denver, Colorado on January 19, 1960. In Denver is where they made their home. This would be the place where they would raise the seven children that God blessed them with, five girls and two boys, Patricia, Sheila, Franklin, Yolanda, LaFreda, Itasca and Vincent.

Lula Mae was a home maker, choosing to stay at home with the children making sure their childhood was filled with love laughter, and protection, teaching them to love the Lord as she did, teaching them to always be respectful, honest, and all the other essentials of life.

After raising their children, Lula Mae ventured out into the work world, to work for others. Then she decided to open her own business under the name of Lula’s Janitorial. Lula ran Lula’s janitorial for 14 years until she retired. After retirement, she moved back to her beginnings, Texas. There she would answer the call of family and friends when there was a need for help of any kind.

Lula attended church, enjoying the rivals planning, and what she would cook to bring months ahead of time. Cooking was something she loved to do. Her favorite was peach cobbler.

She also loved spending time with her friends. She was often home in Colorado for holidays and family events. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved the fresh air Texas seem to bring. One of the perfect places she enjoyed was on her front porch bench. Often times you could find her reading and meditating in the Word, just spending time with her Lord and savior.

On April 15, 1992, Lula Mae's love of thirty -four years, Mose Reedy, passed away peacefully and has been truly missed by all.

On January 21, 2019, God has called Lula Mae Reedy home to him where there is no more, crying no more dying, no more pain, no more sorrow, but hope, and gladness and a brighter tomorrow for we know we will all be together again someday. We love you mom you will greatly missed. We thank God for giving you to us and all the sweet memories of compassion and love you showed to all that had the pleasure of walking this life with you and you will before ever in our hearts.

She is survived by all that cherished her memory.
