Louise Santifer Taylor returned to the Almighty on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. “I have fought a good fight; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. And now the prize awaits me__ the crown of Righteousness.” She passed from labor to reward; she finished her life-long race victoriously! Louise was the eighth child of eight children born to the late Isam Santifer, Jr. and Ethel Marsh Santifer in the Shady Grove Community, Mansfield, Louisiana. She grew up in a large and loving family of two sisters and five brothers. She was educated in Louisiana. Louise moved to Denver, Colorado in 1942. She married the late Joseph Pipkin and to this union three sons were born, William Douglas “Switch”, Carl E. and Orlando “Lanny” Pipkin. The marriage was dissolved and she later met and married Nathan Taylor. This union thrived for thirty-two years, ending upon the death of Nathan. Louise worked at one of Denver’s premier department stores, The Denver Dry Goods, for thirty plus years before retiring in 1987. She was a woman of style and grace. Kind hearted with a great sense of humor. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, reading a good novel, watching a heart-warming movie or play and eating a scrumptious meal. Her stories, wit and humor kept you laughing all the time. Some of her infamous sayings were: “I was always a lady” and “I knew him when he had a boot and a shoe and they called him shoebooty!” Some of her favorite television shows were: Blue Bloods, The Haves and the Have Nots and The Bold and the Beautiful. Aunt Lou also loved the Broncos, especially Von Miller. She would watch the game in his jersey and hat while sitting in her big, comfortable chair. (And don’t call her when any one of her favorites was on television!) As a long-time member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Willie C. Jones, Pastor, Aunt Lou was one of the Mothers of the church. She was a willing worker in the Army of the Lord. She did what she could for as long as she could. She was loved and supported by First Lady Nell Jones, who faithfully visited, called, and kept up with her and every first Sunday, she received communion at home. Aunt Lou lived in her home for over fifty-five years. Her many loving neighbors were like extended family, and included Mrs. Mary Stamps, Ms. Doris Murray, Mrs. Grace Atusanwa, Rev. & Sis. Benton, Tommy, Mrs. Lois Smith and Mrs. Bryant. Other close family and friends who visited her on a regular basis were Charlene, Franklin & Margie Jackson, Ms. Lomita Gaskins, Ms. Dora Jean Price, Ms. Florence, James L. Walker, Mrs. Marion Robinson, Jeffrey Gale, Nik Scott and husband, Terry Griffin, B. Louise Dave, Ms. Wesbrooks and granddaughter, Ms. Margaret Hall, church member; Ms. Rose Green, who baked cakes for her; and Miss Lucille, her hairdresser for over sixty years, and of course, Mark and Sherri Pipkin, just to name a few. TRULY, A LIFE WELL LIVED! TO KNOW HER WAS TO LOVE HER! Louise Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children, two sisters and five brothers.
