Lonnie David Davis was born on December 21, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. His parents were Lonnie M. and Vernice Davis. He was the fifth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Charles, Bob Lee, Jimmy, and his sisters, Ellen, Vivian and Charlotte. As a child, he didn't mind helping with household chores. He is fondly remembered as always racing home from school to make French fries. Lonnie received his formal education in Denver, where he graduated from Manual High School. He furthered his education by attending the City College in California, where he completed courses to become a Senior Design Draftsman. On September 21, 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While serving his country, he was stationed in several ports in the United States. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, a Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged on September 23, 1968, at the rank of AMS3 (E4). On January 6, 1969, Lonnie united in holy matrimony to the former Tressa D. Watts. The couple first met in Denver. They exchanged vows at the Lincoln Street Church in Globeville, CO, officiated by Reverend Hall. There were no children born to this union, but he was blessed to have twins, Timaeia and Timeeia Johnson as God Children. They often visited him in the hospital and often called just to check on him. By profession, Lonnie was employed by Pacific Gas & Electric as a Senior Design Draftsmen. He was hard-working, dedicated and dependable. He was friendly by nature and made a lot of friends on the job. He performed his duties with excellence and precision. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Lonnie was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church. He joined the church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. Jules E. Smith. Lonnie was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the flute. He was often asked to play during the wedding of many of his co-workers. He also enjoyed watching basketball and football. His closest friends, Ricky, St. Joe and Davey Valdez, who both preceded him in death, shared a closeness and comraderies that were immeasurable and memorable. He will be missed by all who knew this kind and giving man whether it was his time, money or just giving a ride to others. To know Lonnie was to love him. Lonnie David Davis departed this life on September 25, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his wife, Tressa D. Davis of Denver; one brother, Charles J. (Audrey) Davis of LA, CA; three sisters, Ellen V. (Hubert) Hall of Centennial, CO, Vivian Thomas of Oakland, CA and Charlotte J. Davis of Tucson, AZ; his Godchildren, Timeeia and Timaeia Johnson both of Denver and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and many friends.
