Lola Love

Lola Mae Love was born on June 8, 1937, in La Junta, Colorado to her parents, Winnie Williams and Littleton Love. Winnie died shortly after childbirth and Lola was raised by Martha L. Williams. She was the seventh child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Herbert, Bobby, Eddie, Milo, and her sisters, Charlie Mae and Alice. The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and Lola received her early education from a church school in the area. She was able to combine school work with home chores.

Lola was the proud mother of two beautiful children, a son, she named Lloyd and a daughter, she named Tanya. She was a loving and devoted mother who took great pride and joy in the care and nurture of her family. She was a mother who taught her children the importance of prayer. She never stopped praying for her children. She was the type of mother who didn't believe in being rude in language or actions, but she was able to get her point across and they knew exactly what she meant. She was an excellent cook and they all loved her Sweet Potato Pie, Carrot Cake, and her Red Velvet Cake.

She was later blessed with her grandchildren, Tiffany, Sean, Kevin, Malcolm, Thalyn, Lloyd, Jr., and her twelve great-grandchildren, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Grams and Yams" and fondly remember her being there when needed and keeping things real. She showed them how much she loved them by her actions.

By profession, Lola was employed by Lowery Air Force Base for eleven years and the City and County of Denver for thirty-five years. She was hard-working, dedicated, dependable, and performed her duties with the spirit of excellence. She was one who never missed days from work and often had so much time, she could give some of her hours to others.

A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Mother Love was a faithful and dedicated member of Greater Temple of Jerusalem COGIC and then New Covenant COGIC. She served her church and Lord as a member of the Sunshine Band, the Hope Food Bank, and she assisted Catholic Charities. She ministered to those in need for over twenty years. She also donated to Homeless Shelters around the state.

She was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed going to Thrift Shops of which she referred to as "Goodie" and she would say "If Goodie don't got it, you don't need it." She also loved cooking, reading, studying the Bible, watching football, and listening to music. Her closest friends, Mildred Anderson, Faye Cleveland, and Liz Leonard will miss her love, generosity, her willingness to help others even if it meant giving her last, and her caring nature. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful Christian woman. To know Mother Lola Love was to love her.

Mother Lola Mae Love departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on December 14, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, Lloyd C. Love of Aurora, Colorado; her daughter, Tanya M. Love; 1 sister, Alice J. (Leon) Williams all of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Tiffany Defoe, Sean Love, Kevin Love, Malcolm Steele-Love, Thalyn Love, Lloyd Love, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
