Leston Reeves, born in Tucker, Texas on August 1, 1930, to Eddie Reeves and Callie Mae Hunt, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2024 He was the cherished last of his siblings: Eloise Sumuel, Elnora Bryant, Roxie Ricks, Lina Belle Leavell, Alfrea Cooper, Naomi Crawford, Cleophus "Buddy" Reeves, Willis Reeves, and John Eddie Reeves.
to honor his memory are his children Jory Arnell Reeves (known as Skip), Leston Devon Reeves, Bridget Dolores Reeves, Bevla Denette Reeves, and Rene James Reeves. Additionally, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Leston graduated from Green Bay High School in Palestine, Texas in 1948 and went on to serve in the Army branch of the Military. His dedicated service spanned over 22 years which included deployments to various parts of the world such as Japan, Europe, and within the USA. Notably, Leston bravely fought during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 before retiring in 1970.
Following his military career, Leston devoted 15 years to working at the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1992. He found joy in fishing, bowling – where he excelled and earned numerous trophies – photography, dancing, and savoring blues music. An avid sports enthusiast since his youth playing basketball through to enjoying Denver Broncos football games as a loyal season ticket holder for many years.
Known for his unwavering support of his children's passions for education, sports, music, and exploration; Leston's generous spirit touched many lives around him. His kindness and love will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know him. Leston will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being part of his life's journey.
