Leotis Maynard Williams was born on November 7, 1937 in Ponta Texas to the parentage of Willie Thomas Williams and Jettie Jewel Cleaver. He was one of five exceptional children including Ernestine, Bennie, Ethel and Betty. This was a family that was firmly rooted and grounded in the Lord; they allowed the light of Jesus Christ to shine. Leotis began his Christian Journey early when he was baptized as teenager. Leotis grew up in rural East Texas with "Big City" ambitions. He graduated two years early from Fred Douglas High School in New Summerfield Texas. He joined the United States Air Force upon graduation and soon married his grade school "Sweetheart" Crystal Belle Lee. To this 57 year union, three beautiful daughters were born Debra Denease, Cheryl Gijuana and Bridgit Carol. Leotis valiantly served four years in the United States Air Forces and later moved his family to Denver, Colorado in September 1960. He began civilian life by furthering his education and receiving an Associates of Arts Degree in Computer programming from the Community College of Denver, his Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science from Metropolitan State College of Denver and a Masters in Business with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from Regis University of Denver. Leotis was an extremely committed and successful man who worked well into his 70's as a computer, finance and tax professional as well as an educator. His professional career encompassed the Denver Public Schools, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Parks Business College. Leotis also spent 30 years at the Denver Water Department leading their MIS initiatives and post retirement as an educator with the Aurora Public Schools. Leotis had an astonishingly scientific mind and was one of the mostly highly sought after computer programmers/analysts in the State of Colorado and on the professional conference circuit. He facilitated numerous national forums and was a mentor to many aspiring computer engineers and scientific minds seeking to break into the industry. Leotis was fondly known to those from East Texas as "Maynard" and to those in Colorado as "Willie" or "Lee." He was brilliant, generous, a family man, but more importantly a Godly man with strong Christian and family values that he imparted to his family. In his more recent years, Leotis became a faithful member of the Potter House of Denver. He loved his family with everything he had in him. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for his family and friends. If he had it (and most likely he did) he would give it to you; nothing was too large to ask him for. He put his children and grandchildren through school; purchased vehicles for every one of them and if he merely perceived a need from his wife, children, grandchildren and other family members he would fulfill it. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew and loved him; you can't find a greater man anywhere. What A Legacy… What A Man! Leotis was preceded him in death by his parents, Willie and Jettie Williams; and all four of his siblings, Ernestine Williams-Sparks, Bennie Jewel Williams, Ethel Love Williams-Reese and Betty Jean Williams-Fuller Leotis Maynard Williams leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Crystal Williams; three daughters, Debra Williams, Cheryl Williams-Carter, Bridgit Williams; five grandchildren, Aspen G. Kelly, Tristan C. Williams, Whitney D. Carter, William Leotis Carter, and Jordan C. Williams and one Great Granddaughter Crystal N. Castleberry and host of other relatives and friends.
