Leonard Stevenson

August 23, 1960 — May 16, 2016

Leonard Gene Stevenson was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 23, 1960, to his parents, Luther and Myrna Stevenson; he was the second child. Leonard had three brothers, Luther "Stevie", Marvin, and Robert "Corey", and four sisters, Carla, Tammy, Margaret "Margie", and Sherri. His family and friends lovingly called him, "Lenny." From childhood, Lenny is remembered by his siblings as their quiet protector, friend and big brother. Lenny completed his formal education in the Denver Public Schools district attending Byers Middle School and East High School. Lenny's quiet strength has caused him to triumph over many obstacles in his life. Lenny was the proud father of one daughter, Quena, who preceded him in death. Later, Lenny met his friend and loving companion of 12 years, Laverne Jones, in Denver, Colorado on 22nd Street. She remembers him as a loving and good person. They spent quality time together creating memories that can never be forgotten. Lenny held many different jobs; however, he was very dependable, loyal, and strived for excellence in all that he did. He enjoyed watching television, reading, walking, riding his bicycle, and hanging out on the deuces with Shannon, Juice, Lee Lee, Barry, Fredrick, and Bugs. Bugs preceded him in death. Brenda, Jan, and Barbara were also hanging buddies. They all remember him by being a good person of the 22nd Street Crew. He loved hanging out on the 22nd Street bus stop where he could be found if you were looking for him. He will truly be missed by those who knew him. Leonard was preceded in death by his daughter, Quena Stevenson; his mother, Myrna L. Stevenson; brother, Luther J. Stevenson; his nieces, Natasha Stevenson, and Cheree Stevenson. On evening of May 16, 2016, Leonard Gene Stevenson was called to his rest. He leaves to cherish his memory his companion of 12 years, Laverne Jones, Denver; his father, Luther Stevenson.
