Leona Delois (Peoples) Cobb: Revered former educator dies at 88. Cobb, a retired educator of 38 years in the Tulsa Public School District, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Denver, CO at the home of her eldest daughter, Sandra K. Cobb. Leona Cobb was born on September 10, 1928 to Elisha and Leona Marie Peoples in Bristow, OK. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Sapulpa, OK, where Cobb spent her formative years. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (Sapulpa, OK) in 1948, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Langston University in 1953. In 1971, Cobb received her Master’s in Education from Southeastern State College (Durant, OK). Cobb is survived by her three daughters, Sandra K. Cobb (Denver, CO), Sharon F. Cobb (Tulsa, OK), and Linda L. Cobb (Tulsa, OK), five grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 419 N. Elgin Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74120.
