Leon Reimers

d. June 19, 2017

Leon Charles Reimers was born on July 3, 1984, in Tacoma, Washington to his parents Sam Hay, Jr. and Kathi Jean Reimers. He was the third child of four children born to the family. In April of 1987, when Leon was three years old, the family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he spent the majority of his life. Growing up, Leon was actively involved in the Tiger Cubs. Leon and his siblings were known for their abilities to clean with “Super Speed.” When necessary, the children could create dish soap, and make homemade slip-n-slides in the grass. They enjoyed playing together on their swing set in their backyard, catching crawdads in Montbello, and chasing their dogs around the ditches. Leon was very satisfied with putting his younger sister, Samantha, in clothes baskets and pushing her down the stairs, making it a game. Leon attended schools in the Denver Public Schools District throughout his educational years and ultimately received his General Education Diploma, GED. Following the completion of his GED, Leon received various trade certificates for learning how to operate the Spray Paint Booth, the Drill Press, and the Dove Tail Machine. Leon and his family briefly moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1997, and back to Denver, Colorado in 1998, where he would remain. Leon initially met Kapree Brown while in high school and the two reconnected years later. On November 29, 2004, their son Ayden Isaiah Fredrick Brown was born. He shared a loving bond with his son. Known by his friends as “Tree,” Leon was known for his height and shoe size; he stood over 7 feet tall, with a size 18” shoe. Leon was a sweet, thoughtful and loving person who cared for others. Leon was extremely generous if he had something, you had something, regardless of what it was. Leon took a lot of pride in his bond with his siblings, his fresh new ride, and cooking! Cooking was his passion, being a Head Chef was his goal. Leon enjoyed cooking so much; he worked in the kitchen at various restaurants at the same time. Leon was always eager to cook a home cooked meal with whatever he could find in the kitchen. Unknown to some, Leon had artistic drawing abilities and creative use of chalk pastels. He also appreciated music; he would not go anywhere without a pair of headphones and a fully charged phone. He was also very fond of Panda Bears. He will be missed by all those who remain to remember the love, honor, and appreciation he showed all. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Sam Hay, Jr.; his grandfather, Earl Reimers; his uncle, David Reimers; and aunt, Debbie Smith. Leon Charles Reimers departed this life on June 19, 2017, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Ayden Brown; mother, Kathi Reimers-Haggerty; siblings, Suzanne (Sean) Reimers-Radford, Joshuah Reimers, Samantha Reimers; grandmother, Carolyn Reimers; uncles, Mark Reimers, Jeff Reimers; aunt, Charita Reimers; cousins: Jayson, Jeannie, Mary and Amy Reimers, Mark, Tonya, Maurice, Nicholas, Christopher and Jasmine Smith; a host of other relatives, and friends. Teardrops If you could catch a tear right in the palm of your hand, would you? Know the meaning and truly understand the teardrop is more than empty wetness on a stranger's face, it's the crying memories of a forgotten time and place. It is the sorrow in the moisture that you deeply must feel to really touch the sadness, and know a teardrop is real. So, when you get the chance to hold a teardrop in your hand, try to feel the pain of this lonely man.
