The pages of this book began for Lawrence Edward Robinson, Jr. when he was born on April 4, 1945, in Dixie, Georgia to his parents, Lawrence Edward Robinson, Sr. and Maurice Lee Hunter Robinson. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Robert, Aaron and his sisters, Mary, Thais, Alice and Emily. A fond childhood memory was that of Lawrence having a Chemistry set when he was young. He went in his parent's bedroom and set a fire in there mattress which burned a hole. His remedy was to turn the mattress on the other side. Lawrence received his formal education in Industry, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Western Beaver High School. On September 17, 1965, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country, he was awarded a number of awards, decorations and citations for meritorious service. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged at the rank of E-5. On April 18, 1970, Lawrence united in holy matrimony to the former Gwendolyn Louise Williams. They first met while attending a social gathering in Denver, Colorado. Gwendolyn remembers how they both were laughing and giggled after exchanging vows. To this union, a daughter they named Stephanie DeNeen Robinson was born. Stephanie remembers her father as enjoying old school music, collecting pens, wearing nice watches and fascinated with cameras and tinkering with cars. The family enjoyed traveling and spending quality time together. He was later blessed with a grandson, Jaiden Stephan Robinson who was an additional source of joy and pride in his life. By profession, Lawrence was employed by the State of Colorado as a Utility Worker. He was hardworking, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he continued to love old school music, taking pictures, cooking and fishing. His closest friend, Vanessa Phillips will miss the camaraderie they shared together and the fact they were cousins as well as best friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence E. Robinson, Sr.; brothers, Robert and Aaron Robinson and his grandson, Jaiden Stephan Robinson. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Lawrence was to love him. Lawrence Edward Robinson, Jr. departed this life on March 15, 2014, in his home in Denver, Colorado.
