Latonya Rufus-Jones

November 8, 1973 — March 26, 2016

LaTonya Marie Rufus-Jones was born on November 8, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, John W. Davidson and Dorothy M. Hardin. She was the 5th of 6th children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her sister, Pamela and her brothers, Rodney, Steven, Marcus and Cedric. As a child, she was known not to be able to keep a secret. She always wanted to be in charge and her siblings often called her "The Sheriff." The family relocated to Aurora, Colorado in 1989. She graduated from Aurora Central High School and furthered her education by completing Cosmetology classes at Pickens Technical School in 2001. LaTonya was the proud mother of a beautiful daughter, she named Toi Antoinette Scott. She was a loving, and nurturing mother who took great pride and joy in the care of her daughter. In 2003, LaTonya met the love of her life, Marcus Lyle Jones. The couple shared a happy and loving relationship and on October 12, 2013, they exchanged vows in Las Vegas, Nevada, the wedding of her dreams; surrounded by over eighty family members and friends. They have had a beautiful life together, traveling and spending quality time together. By profession, LaTonya was a licensed Cosmetologist. She performed her duties with style, elegance and grace. She was loved by her customers and they valued her expertise and experience. Being a Hair Stylist was one of her greatest joys in life. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, LaTonya accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. In 1990, she became a member of Heritage Christian Center. She joined under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Dennis Leonard. The church is now known as The Potters House of Denver under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. Chris Hill. She has been a member for over 26 years. She truly enjoyed the fellowship shared with her church family and the wisdom and knowledge she gained and she studied the Bible. LaTonya was a fun-loving person who enjoyed life and those she encircled, In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, shopping and traveling. She truly loved putting together spontaneous gatherings and making everyone feel welcomed. She loved to cook and "boy could she cook." Her closest friend, Felicia Gray will miss the camaraderie's they shared together and fact that she was a true and trusted friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman; who leaves a void that can never be filled and a legacy to cherish and remember. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 11 Corinthians 5:8 LaTonya Marie Rufus-Jones departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 26, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
