LaShona Patrice Gerdine
As beautiful as a rose to see was her life, she lived so gracefully. She made things precious by her touch; her selfless love lives on in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one, each a gift of her heart till there were none. Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end.
La Shona Patrice Gerdine was born October 12, 1975, to her parents, Karen Elaine Brown Gerdine and Wendell Delano Gerdine in Denver, Colorado. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Michael, Carlos, and Wendell. She received her early education by graduating from George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado. She earned a college scholarship from the Colorado State in Basketball. La Shona enjoyed helping others leading her to continue higher education in Criminal Science a Law Enforcement Training at Metropolitan State University.
LaShona was a vibrant, kind and loving person, who was the pride and joy of her grandparents, Sarah Catherine White Brown and Joseph Quantin Brown from Washington, DC who established the Denver Blade Newspaper upon moving to Denver, Colorado. Her paternal grandparents, Faye Elizabeth Wyatt Gerdine and Frank W. Gerdine, Sr. were revered members of Denver.
The legacy of LaShona’s kind spirit, passion for sports and an unyielding zest for life will be remembered by many family members, friends, and loved ones. La Shona, an entrepreneur created a marketing firm which lead her to Phoenix, Arizona. She was a member of the North Phoenix Baptist Church serving in youth outreach. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this wonderful, and strong woman of God. To know LaShona was to love her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wendell Delano Gerdine; her grandparents, Catherine and Quantin Brown, and Faye E. and Frank W. Gerdine; a uncles, Keith Q. Brown and Frank E. Gerdine
LaShona Patrice Gerdine departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on July 15, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her mother, Karen E. Brown Gerdine; 3 brothers, Michael B. (Beverly) Bedford, Carlos Gerdine and Wendell Gerdine; aunts and uncles, Luanna F. (Reverend Charles) Slay, The Honorable Wilma J. (The Honorable Wellington) Webb, Kenneth L. (Sonya) Gerdine, Minister Sara (Apostle Ronald) Dickerson, and Phillip H. Gerdine, Beverly J. Brown, Jonathon W. Brown; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
