On a spring day back in March of 1963 Larry Charles Delaney was born to Carolyn Jo Lewis. It was late afternoon on March 28th that the world changed for the better because this baby boy was born, full of energy. It was as if he couldn't wait to grow up. He gave his mother a "run for her money".
Larry and his brother Ricky were in a house fire when he was five years old, even then he was thinking ahead. He picked his 3-year-old brother up and put him in the bathtub to save him. He later said he thought cold water came from there. His fast thinking and quick action saved them both.
When he was older, he moved to California to live with his Aunt Yvonne, first in L.A and later in Redwood City. During this time, he received his education in the California Public school system and accepted Christ into his life. He would later marry, bring forth children he loved and cherished,
and become a devout Christian.
Larry had an extreme passion for life, music, art, sports and God from the beginning to the end. He had a zeal for life that was contagious. His creative mind never stopped pursuing the next adventure. Larry's wisdom, gentle smile, and generous heart will live on in the reflection of his children and grandchildren. Larry will be greatly missed, from his impishly turned up smile to his silky soft singing voice.
Larry will always be remembered as a loving and caring father, devoted man of God, and a kind-hearted friend.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carolyn Jo Lewis, and his younger brother, Joseph Earl.
Larry passed away peacefully at his home and returned to the embrace of the Lord on March 25, 2019, 3 days before his 56th birthday. Larry will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by those left to cherish his memory. He is survived by his children, Vernetta, Chris, Brittaney, Jeffrey, Elijah, Isaiah, Layten, Langston, Landon; eight grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Lonnie, Ricky, George, and Barbara; his aunt, Jackie; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, his best friend, Debra Harris, and the wife Merisha.
