Landrey Terry, Sr.

Landrey Kenneth Terry, Sr. was born on October 29, 1954, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, James K. Terry and Geraldine Smith Terry. He was the sixth of seven children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Benny, Michael, Jerome and his sisters, Bonnie, Barbara and Shirley. He received his formal education in Denver where he graduated from Manual High School. On October 21, 1972, Landrey united in holy matrimony to the former Vicki L. Mines. They first met in Denver as employees of Kentucky Fried Chicken. They had four children, Landrey, Jr., Steve, Launia, and LaTaunia. He was later blessed with eleven grandchildren, Jazmine, Breannah, Kenyatta, II, Brandi, Landrey, III, Kimora, Amir, Emari, Aubrie, Paul, Victor and one great grandson, Makai. They lovingly called him "Pa-Paw" and fondly remember all the precious and memorable moments together. At the time of his passing, Landrey and Vicki had been married 43 years. By profession, Landrey was employed by the Rio Grande Railroad as a Switchman/Brakeman. He was hard-working, dependable and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He was respected by his fellow co-workers and his supervisors. He had been with the company for over twenty years. Landrey was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he loved spending quality time with family and friends, taking long walks and helping others. He loved the Lord and believed in the power of prayer. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Landrey was to love him. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Geraldine Terry and brother, Benny Graham. Landrey Kenneth Terry, Sr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 28, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Vicki L. Terry of Denver, Colorado; 2 sons, Landrey K. (Jennifer) Terry, Jr. and Steve M. Jackson all of Denver; 2 daughters, Launia K. Terry-Hill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and LaTaunia K. (Joseph) Terry-Hall of Denver; 2 brothers, Jerome Terry of Denver and Michael Terry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 3 sisters Bonnie Ruff of Wilmont, Arkansas, Barbara Lardge of St. Louis, Missouri and Shirley Thomas of Lansing, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
