LaMar Foster was born on February 28, 1957, in Shreveport, Louisiana to his parents, Ollie Lynn Washington and Lucille Gray Foster. He was raised surrounded by his brother, Glenn and his sister, Bobbie. He and his brother shared a special closeness. Growing up, they collected pigeons and often played with the other neighborhood children. He attended Ingersoll Elementary School in Shreveport, LA. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado and LaMar completed his early education, when he graduated from Manual High School. He met Joy Evans in Denver. They first met while he was working at Ace Supermarket. To this union, two beautiful children, Alisha and Derrick were born. They remember their father as loving and supportive. Whenever they visited him at Ace Supermarket, they would always ask him "Dad, can you put this on your bill? his response was always, "I will see what I could do" and he always came through. He and Joy remained close remains over the years. He later met Phyllis Jackson and they were partners for many years. LaMar was later blessed with six grandchildren, Audric, Takel, Diamond, Blessyn, Derrick, I'Lani and his great grandson, Audric, Jr. who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They fondly remember him calling them "my grand babies" and they all shared many happy and memorable moments together. By profession, LaMar was a Butcher. He was employed by Ace Supermarket. His co-workers and employers remember him as hardworking, dependable and dedicated. LaMar was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. He was an avid Bronco fan and enjoyed watching the games. His closest friends, Vinson Powell, Charles Tidwell, Tyrone Evans, Michael Sanders and Joe Jackson will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. He was a man who didn't mind lending a helping hand to others. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind guy who had a smile that would lite any room he entered. To know LaMar was to love him. LaMar Foster departed this life on July 27, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his daughter, Alisha R. Evans of Denver; his son, Derrick L. (Ilinkia) Evans of Aurora; his mother, Lucille Gay Foster of Denver; his sister, Bobbie J. Foster of Aurora; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
